Friends

We dined at Friends last night. Upon arriving and asking for a table for two we were shown to the end of a very large table for about 12, even though the restaurant was quite empty. Our request for a smaller table was jovially ignored. Next came the house wine, which we had been assured was 'dry' by our waitress even though we doubted she had understood the question because her english was very limited. The house white was so bad we barely managed half a glass, it tasted sweetly of a wine / sherry mix which is probably appropriate considering that based on the decor and cheesy piped 70s/80s easy listening music ,Friends would appear to be aiming for the older generation. The liberally parsley scattered food however was ok, my wife's bream and my scampi was cooked well. Our bill was also incorrect, but was amended after we brought this to the attention of the staff. Disappointing for the money we felt.........we would not recommend this restaurant.

I took my wife, my kids and my old mum to Friends on Sunday. We had 3 haddocks & chips, 1 cod & chips, mushy peas & garden peas. The food was absolutely superb, as was the excellent service. It looks as if this restaurant has been redecorated, as it showed and they had done an excellent job. The bill for 4 plus a 3 year old came to £64 plus tips. The fish were huge, with 1 being big enough for two people... so we had to take some of the fish and the chips home.

I went to Friends the day after boxing day. First time I have been since new management, and I will definately be back. Fish was beautiful, so fresh and just melted in your mouth. Staff extremely friendly and accomodating. Although have to say for the first class restaurant the toilets were absoultely awful.

I've eaten at Friends recently since they've now been taken over by new management. What more can i say than it was an absolute joy to be there..The staff were very nice and the food is probably the best fish and chips i've ever eaten before. Fresh fish and fantastic chips. Defintaely would recommend for a meal 110%

The shop has been a chip shop for a very long time but since it became "friends" the quality of the chips has declined rapidly. The staff are very poor at running the place and the chip have become virtually un-edible, they are burnt on the outside and dry on the inside, if you were eating them blindfolded you would describe them as as dry burnt molded potato fish lumps, i would guestimate the oil used to be over a month old and used to cook meat and fish products in. I had the today and could find only three decent chips, if i had to eat the rest i would vomit and would certainly nominate them for some sort of grusome challange on a reality tv show.

Without doubt one of the worst fish and chip shops in England, so its no suprise Americans laugh at our food and call it distgusting.

Friends, is absolutely fanstastic! The fish is great in all its shapes and forms, I especially love the fried calamari and the fish & chips in here is arguably the best I've had in London.
