The venue is ok.

The food is appalling. It's Iceland's retail cook up outlet.

The chips are greasy oily things and they take 45 minutes to appear.

If this place had competition it'd be closed down.

We give this pub chance and chance again and every time they let us down. The management seem on the ball, but the rest of the staff, especially the kitchen, prevent us from ever being able to enjoy a lunch there.

Today they really excelled themselves. A number of our colleagues left the pub with their lunch wrapped in silver foil after having waited an hour for their order. When they returned to the office, one colleague discovered her club sandwich contained the tomato she specifically said she was allergic to!

I could go on, but I won't bore you. Suffice to say we only go here for lunch as there is very little else on offer!

Four of us ate last Saturday at Fox @ Connaught. It was a dismal experience salvaged only by the fact that we all liked each other's company.

Two people ordered starters and they were meagre in terms of content, goat's cheese translating as a'few thin slivers with a disguise of salad.

The main courses were very poor and it would have been better to turn down custom rather than offer such dishes. For example a thin covering of one type of pasta on a plate covered in a vivid red sauce was supposed to be a special three pasta dish. The lamb shank was practically raw and tough and the seared tuna as dry as dust.

The service was erratic and complaints came from many diners. I would avoid eating here at all costs unless things change rapidly.A waste of money.

As you drive past there are banners outside promoting the world cup on the big screen - so I was looking forward to having a pint and watching some games over the month of the tournament.

To my amazement they show the football with the sound turned down!! OK probably the England games are up but in a pub on a lunchtime with about half a dozen people in it they chose to play some crap music instead of the volume on the TV.

If you don't want football to be heard dont say you sohw the games - its not the same and my trade is elsewhere now...

With the persona of a fashionable and sophisticated bar/restaurant, The Fox @ Connaught tempted me in with offerings of beer battered food, gourmet hamburgers and sumptuous sandwiches. The alfresco seating area seemed welcoming with sufficient tables and chairs. Upon entering the restaurant I notice what seemed to be an ideal seating area away from the slightly noisier main pub. This was the restaurant section, which before even stepping into I had eyeballed the perfect table. Upon stepping my first foot into the “Restaurant”, a rather impolite waitress informed me that we could not sit in the restaurant, although she was unable provide me with an explanation. Moving to another table in the louder section was no real hassle, and we seated ourselves promptly. We both chose quickly from the fairly limited menu. The Bread & Aioli with a side of Olives to start was just what we required. For the main I ordered the “Gourmet Hamburger” without cheese. Although the bar staff do seem keen to try and assist, communication is made virtually impossible by a vast language barrier. We waited patiently for our food and then I spotted what I assume to be the manageress bringing a full tray over to our table. Until now, I had never heard of serving both starter and main at the same time. The Bread & Aioli which we really looking forward to was simply just “Stale Bread” with no sign of the Aioli, and the cheese-less burger was stuffed to the gills with cheddar. Upon asking the manageress about the presence of the Aioli, which was the beginning part of my complaint, she informed me that the chef must have forgotten and then she sprinted back into the kitchen before I had a chance to utter another word. The manageress absolutely and entirely had no time to check if her customers were satisfied and indeed seemed more concerned about the placement of beer bottle in the fridge. The burger was cold and our amendment to its contents had been ignored. The Bread & Aioli came with no “Aioli” the “Gourmet Hamburger” was dreadful and the staff were literally incommunicable. Avoid like the plague.
