Thai Handwell

This is the best Thai restaurant in the area without a doubt.

I eat there regularly and have lived in Thailand for 2 years so am fussy about the food. Also very friendly and accomodating owner.

I reluctantly went to this restaurant at first because I had become tired of what Thai restaurants near Hanwell were offering- tired curries and dishes where a few ingredients had been unenthusiastically pushed round a wok before being served. I was in for a really pleasant shock. The Thai fishcakes starter was wonderfully fresh and tasty, and the stir-fried pork in Ginger with chilli sauce was wonderfully rich and packed with ingredients. The special rice and vegetables dish was also superb, and what is better I didn't have a furry tongue the next morning from MSG. I liked it so much I got a takeaway the next night- a green curry, which again was far tastier than one I have ad for a long while.

The fact that it is unlicenced is even better, as the off licence over the road is much cheaper than restaurant beer, and the waitress even offered to keep my beer cold in the fridge.

Give it a go, you will enjoy it.

One of several Thai restaraunts within about a mile of each other to choose from. We opted for this on weekeday evening.We were not dissapointed. We ordered for our party of 7, a couple of portions of starters which included Satay,Prawns deep fried in Filo,some tempura-style vegetables and some sweet spiced ribs. The main courses that followed were Red curry ( fragrant and spicy) King Prawn curry (one of the best I have had)Pad Thai (beautiful,cruchny and fresh), Jasmine and egg fried rice. No room for desserts- except the kids who had ice cream. There is no alcohol licenece but across the road there is an off licence. All in all a wonderful Thai cafe and one which is soon to be my local.
