BEWARE! Do not event think about booking for an event. This is the most disorganised place ever. The bar manager is useless. The area manager is rude and unhelpful. They quote a budget and then hike up at the price in the eleventh hour. I booked an event at the end of September and they have just told me that they are no longer able to do it after stalling me for over a month. I have never dealt with such a dodgy venue. I think I had a lucky escape from having my event there. Fawlty Towers Cuban stylie springs to mind!

I went here with a friend aiming to have a couple of beers and some nachos.
1) they had run out of nachos
2) the waitress claimed they had no beer
3) they did have beer, but she didn't know the names
4) I had to go to the bar myself to idenitfy and order the beers
5) the food we ordered was pathetic: meagre portions, over priced, poor quality and tasteless
And then the waitress came over asking us to settle the bill because she was going home.

I really have no words to describe this horrible place that they called a Restaurant!! I went there with my “ex girlfriend” to try to have a nice dinner and find some solutions to our problems and it went even worse. We were sitting downstairs, we had of course to wait and I did not mind as I wanted to talk to her. However after 30 minutes I was a bit hungry and I had to go upstairs by myself to place my food order. After spending more than 10 minutes with the waiter because he was telling me that “we do not have this, and this and this...” I went for a classical steak and chips.. Not Cuban at all!! But I could not be bothered to wait more when my girl was downstairs.
Like in any normal place, I was expecting to get my drink before the food was served. Not at all... I had to wait and as the food was taking too long I went again upstairs to grab my bloody bottle of wine..Went down and finally the food was ready. I cut a piece of steak and when I put into my mouth I suddenly noticed something wrong. It was not overcook or raw but seemed old. It smelled like rancid. A bloody old steak paid a lot of money in a city restaurant. What’s wrong with these people?? I went to spy through the door’s glass of the kitchen and it was a really obscene place. Messy, dirty and moreover they were just taking the meat and fish frozen and put straight away into the microwave. The worst dinner ever!! Thanks to the Cuban bar, the expected romantic dinner turned to be a complete disaster and who knows if I have another chance with my lovely girl. I really hope that someone inspects the kitchen before someone might have serious consequences.
In the meantime, I would suggest spreading awareness about this disgusting place.

The food was burnt, over-fried, saturated in oil/fat, the chicken was dry. My friend complained to the chef and he admitted that the chicken was microwaved. My calamari had been fried excessively, the quesadilla with crayfish and mango salsa were prawns in fact no sign of crayfish at all, false advertising! My plantain and sweet potato chips were oily and not much effort was made to absorb the oil from it after frying. One of my friends was given one dish which should have been brought out with another dish at the same time. By the time her other dish was ready the first dish was cold. Funnily enough we were warned by another woman who had just eaten there that if we shouldn't waste our money by buying any food here! In the end we got the manager involved and got a discount of the total bill.

I just would like to let you know that The Cuban became an horrible place since when the owner changed more than one year ago...the new one doesn't know anything about restaurants and bar and ruined a place that was lovely!! Service is very very bad, management inconsistent (actually I don't think there is even a Manager?!), drinks and food really bad and crazy prices!
The Cuban used to be very very busy: lovely music, excellent cocktails, great food, good service, good management...now everything is different and the place is usually empty.
I wish it was remain the same...what a pity!!

This restaurant is horrible. I went with some friends with a kbg/living social/groupon that included a pitcher of sangria and tapas. The sangria had absolutely no alcohol - we each had several glasses and felt nothing. The food was bad. The best tapas we had were olives, which obviously come from a jar. The nachos had been microwaved so the cheese was like plastic, and the calamari was overly breaded and rubbery.
Unlike other reviewers, our service was good.
I'm surprised this restaurant has stayed in business so long. Take your money elsewhere.

I can't comment on the bar upstairs since I've never used it (although the waitresses are pretty) but the bar in the basement is smart with good service, and the salsa dancing on a Wednesday Night is fun and really well organised.

Can you believe I registered on this site just so I could warn people not to go to this place! I had the misfortune of booking this because I have a tastecard and they offer 50% off here. It took between 30-40 mins just to get a DRINK and the only reason why we bothered waiting that long is because others in our party were running late and we didn't want to move on. I went up to the bar TWICE to ask for drinks and was promptly snapped at by the aggressive staff saying I'm coming., I'm coming Couldn't order at the bar you see, so you are reliant on the waiters and waitresses who never seem interested in doing any waiting. I would also like to point out there were only two other tables occupied at this time and it was 6 in the evening. So it was not busy.
Then once we got our drinks on the second attempt we ordered food thinking it couldn't really get any worse. I was wrong. Once again I had to go to the bar to ask if we could order food. We had been there since quarter to six. It was now quarter to eight. I was snapped at again saying they were coming. When, this year....next year?!!!
The £12 salmon dish was black and the size of a pea, and I really do not understand why this place has managed to survive. We were all shocked at how they think they can get away with it. All I can say is this place is the worst place any of us have ever been. Do not even try it!

This place is one of the worst bars I have ever had the misfortune to enter. And one of the worst places I have ever eaten. I utterly regret the longer than intended time I was forced to spend here.
I am slightly heartened that several other reviewers have had the same miserable experience as I did, as hopefully it will discourage other people from going here and put the place out of business.
I can only hope that the fact that this place was full last night was down to the effects of their "happy" hour, although to spend any time in this place, let alone an hour, will leave you feeling far from happy.
We had booked a table, yet the "waitress" who "greeted" us seemed to be massively inconvenienced by our arrival, once she had finally acknowledged our presence.
She sat us down and left us waiting for half an hour, before we decided to go up and place our drinks order at the bar, as quite clearly she was never going to pay us any attention. And to be honest we were not actually sure if they provided table service, seeing as we had been ignored for so long.
I truly wish we had walked out at this point, but sadly for some unfathomable reason we decided to stay and give this dump our custom. I can only think it was the 50% off we were getting with tastelondon, who really should be a little bit more discerning about which eateries they decide to associate themselves with.
The waitress seemed to be insulted that we had decided to go to the bar to order our drinks rather than wait for her to finally find the time to bother to come to our table, and grudgingly and rudely took our drinks order.
The said drinks took at least another 20 minutes to arrive. They were left sitting on the bar while the waitress finished her obviously very important conversation with the barman.
A further 20 minutes down the line we were finally able to put in our food order, again by going up to the bar after we realised we were feeling faint with hunger. We were greeted with the same lack of manners and disgust, almost as if they were not in business to serve people food and drinks but merely to make them as miserable and angry as possible.
I have no idea how long the food took to appear, but it was a while, and I cannot even describe how insulting it was to be served such rubbish and for them to expect money in return for it. I would rather have rifled through the bins outside McDonalds to find my dinner than paid hard earned money for this utter rubbish.
I mistakenly ordered the blackened salmon, which lived up to its description admirably. It was chewy, dry and burnt, and served on a hearty pile of three halves of new potatoes and four beans. It looked like something they would serve as a child's portion or for someone who was severely restricting their calorie intake because they might drop dead of morbid obesity any minute. They charge more than £11 for this if you are unfortunate enough to pay full price. It was an utter insult to anyone who has ever eaten a good meal in a restaurant. Or ever eaten in fact.
My friend's burger bun had bafflingly been microwaved to with an inch of incineration, and was rock hard and inedible. I guess another good way to save on the calories. The tuna another friend had was again pitifully small and unappetising, and probably could have doubled as shoe leather.
Thank goodness we did not pay full price for any of this rubbish. We refused to pay the service charge they rather arrogantly added onto the bill as this place seems to have redefined the word "service".
I cannot emphasise enough how much you should avoid this place at all costs. No matter how drunk or hungry you are do not ever enter this place unless you want to have one of the worst and regretful experiences of your life.
I could go into the terrible music they insist on inflicting on you while you suffer the misery of sitting in this place, or the sweaty salsa dancers you have to battle your way through to get to the toilet, but I won't.
This place is an insult to London, an insult to eating out and an insult to Cuban cuisine.
Do not ever go here.

It's indeed an awful - AWFUL place. How are they still in business? Someone wrote a review that you wait ca. 15 Min at the bar to be served and barman is not interested in you, but more in himself. That 's absolutely true!. It happened to me last Friday. Cocktails are a laugh: Packed with ice and with a couple of sips they are gone. And they are not even tasty..@ £ 7 a pop. Avoid, avoid at all costs....
