I went out one day fancying an Indian. I am a regular customer at Anglo Asian who is across the road from this restaurant and also i tried out all the other indians on the road as well, but i thought, hold on, let me try Royal India. I mean from the outside the first impression was staggerring - the best looking restaurant on the road. I mean, you can spot the place from a mile away. So i went in and asked a table for three. The restaurant looked fabulous with all the asian sarees on the wall and the nice candles lit up. When the food came, it was delicious. I had a Naga Chilli Chicken. I mean if you're a vindaloo/Madras fan then this is the dish for you. And because i dined- in before 10pm, they gave me 20% off my total food bill. How good is that? Until you have not tryed out Royal India, then you don't know the true indian taste. Best Indian on Church Street by miles...... Guaranteed.

Went there last night for one of your standard "it's Tuesday and I can't be arsed to cook" meals. Don't go expecting anything fancy or mind-blowing, but if you crave a good curry for a reasonable price, this is the way to go. They also offer 1/2 off mains until 8:30, which made our bill for 3 people (including booze) £47.00 -- good value. We usually do takeaway from there, but have found the in-restaurant meals to be better. Mishti paneer korma is my favourite "screw-the-diet" dish this week.

maybe we caught them on an off day, but my experience of the royal india was terrible. We went in the evening for the sunday buffet, and in fairness the prices looked very reasonable, but the service we recieved was dire. We sat down, and the waiter chose to ignore us until we had to call him over. The buffet itself was fairly limited, the lettuce looked days old and the food (what was left) seemed like it had been there since the morning. They also seemed to have no interest in replenishing the buffet, and instead of putting out new papadoms they simply said that they didnt come with the buffet, despite the menu saying the opposite. Plus even though we were literally the only customers in there, every time we ordered a drink we had to remind him twice as he kept forgetting. It felt like they had never actually had customers in the restaraunt before. As I said perhaps it was an off day but we definately won't be returning.

We absolutely used to love this place, and probably ordered from them about once a week. However, the last few times the curries have become a bit bland and the quality not as good. I'm hoping it's just a blip on the radar as it really is a fantastic restaurant.
