I always go here, have done since moving back to the UK in '95 from HK, tried it on recommendation from an extremely reliable source. It is always full of local chinese is always a good sign, great food, prompt service and as someone previously said is definitely a cafe atmosphere that would not be out of place in china or HK. If you like a lovely decor etc and want to be waited on hand and foot, this probably isn't the place for you. It was a great way to introduce my boyfriend to proper chinese culture and food and 7 years later my now husband is the one who tells people about his favourite types of dimsum! It is always clean and efficient. You never feel hustled to finish quickly and staff are always polite. A definite favourite.

Despite the change in name, the menu, staff and surroundings are unchanged. Granted its not somewhere you'd go on a date but if you're looking for good cantonese BBQ at bargain prices, you can't go too far wrong.
Service is also pretty decent. I was particularly impressed that they pointed out separate bills were issued for eating-in and the take-out BBQ I'd ordered i.e. I wasn't being charged 10% service on the take-out.

I've been here several times and the food has always been really good. The only time it wasn't good was when I went in a large party and people decided to order the set menu...but I imagine that's the same in most places. Whenever I've ordered from the main menu the dishes have always been very tasty, the portion sizes are quite generous, and it's reasonably good value too.

Went there with some mates, i wanted to go to the restaurant on the other side of the road HK, but was out voted, this is the worst place i been to in london, the food was stale and dry out, the only good saving point was we can get a drink of beer at 2 am, othere wise i would not return again.

We've eaten at Crispy Duck every other week since we moved to London last year, and can say that the Roast duck is delicious! The quality of food is also very consistent, and has never let us down. The custard filled buns are my favorite after-duck sweet.

The branch of Crispy Duck doesn't serve Dim sum (the gerrard st one does) but what it does do is great. Crispy belly pork noodles and ngau lam ho fun (beef brisket noodles) are favourites of mine, and the stuffed bitter melon is also great.
Clarrisa Dickson-Wright is also a regular (I've seen her in there twice) and I've seen her request a special menu - something I haven't been brave enough to do.
Atmosphere is that of a cafe - the service is also nothing fancy but for great, authentic chinese food at really good value this place is a winner.

I like Crispy Duck , the food is great , but if you're seated downstairs you get dingy cave like atmospere and total lack of service 'out of sight out of mind' I will go back but I will insist i'm seated upstairs.
As for the food, very good hot pots , roast meats, the lobster will noodles is very good value..
I wil be going there very soon can't wait.
P.S i've noticed a lot of people complain about service in chinatown, chinese diners expect empty plates to be removed during the meal, to us westerners this might be taken as trying to get you out of the door, most of the waiters in chinatown are rushed off there feet, quality of food is the most important thing to cantonese diners, and service must be fast and efficient, I have eaten in chinatown for over 20 years and i've never had a waiter be deliberatly rude..

I've been to Crispy Duck pretty regularly for the past 8 years and they haven't let me down once! Top quality food, very friendly waiters/waitresses (watch out for the not so friendly spikey white haired old man with glasses on the top floor - I dont like him) and top value.
The menu is relatively simple, but you can guarantee for the price you pay (£5-10 per head) you won't be disappointed with the great taste and portion.
By far the easiest place to get good nosh after a bar/club crawl as well, since they're open til 4am! :D
