I'm quite shocked from all the moans and groans about 805..yeah, I've had a to wait a bit longer then I expected on a 'few' occassions but I don't think that is unique to 805 but to resturants as a whole! Overall I always enjoy the food and find the staff to be polite and friendly.
Also - a few people have said that the waitresses don't know enough about the food? but chicken is chicken, fish is fish! I'm West Indian and no problems understanding the various dishes.
To all the moaners..would you be so quick to moan in a non-African resturant? if you really have experienced truly bad service you should speak to the Management and make suggestions on how they can improve. Construstive criticism is all good. But for the record..I love 805!!

I go to 805 at least once a week and cannot understand why these comments are being made, in terms of price, if you can't afford it don't eat there! service may not be perfect but is better than any other african restaurant I have ever been to and what do you expect if food is to be made perfectly for the customer, for it to be rushed? if you want fast food, go to mcdonalds. I can only speak for myself but 805 has been said to be the best african restaurant in the UK, I agree!!

The staff were rude and don’t have enough knowledge about food, drinks or how to treat a guest, the latte was terrible and on the point of boiling, burnt my tongue.
The food was on the other hand nice and the atmosphere was good. But is not worth the price you pay, our food was £60, and they added themselves a service fee of £5!! And I would gladly pay it if the service was worth it, which it was not! Never to return.

Having read rave reviews about the restaurant, I decided to book a table for 12 for my husband's 40th birthday.
I went to restaurant with a view to discussing a prepaid menu for the group. Although the staff were freindly, they couldn't really help and suggested I waited for their mother who was busy in the kitchen. I waited for about 30 minutes and she eventually arrived. I asked her if she could suggest a menu for us, and she said no but suggested I select items from the menu.
I selected a few dishes and she would have to charge more than normal prices - although i couldn't quite see why. She quoted a price for the meal that was very, very expensive - well over £30 a head. She asked what time we would arrive - I said 8pm and then she asked what time we would leave. I said, we would stay for the rest of the evening. She said - Oh No! You have to leave after 2 hours. I can udnerstand this at the weekend, but this was for a booking for a Wedensday night in February!
I left after an hour and phoned Mama Calabar the next day - they were extremely helpful, suggesting a menu for me at half the cost. The table was set for a party when we arrived and the food was ready. I took a cake and after the meal, the owner came out with the cake and served us all. It was a lovely, well organsied evening. Exactly what I wanted.

I dont know about the main bit but i celebrated my 21st in the private executive area.
Pros: Excellent place to whine and dine, nice tables and very intimate.
Waiters/resses very friendly, waiting times for food OK. Less crowded and you avoid the hustle and bustle of the main part of the restaurant, food may seem small but somehow it fulls you up...!!
Cons: $300 booking fee( not deposit) so essentially you are paying for the venue EVEN THOUGH you are bringing people..I feel they could have been a bit flexible with the price seeing as it was my 21st but it is a set price.
Expensive meals...$12 for gellof rice, plaintain and chicken....however the food is very filling i will not lie.
2.50 for supermalt.......drinks are overinflated but this area is designed for you to spend money..I MUST WARN U
Overall if you are willing to pay 300 then its fab place to go.(better seats, leg room, good service, the room all to yourself, ice surroundings etc)..its expensive but worth it...if you think its expensive use the normal area, but if you are inviting an entourage the main place might ot be good, especially if they dont turn up on time as they will use your area for wiaitng customers.
Money permtiing 9/10...best naija restaurant me thinks!

Visited 805 restaurants for a friend's birthday. The Monica fish I ordered was presented well and tasted ok, but I was astonished when I was presented with the wine list, to see that a simple bottle of Moet was 55 pounds with service charge, almost triple the retail price. Are retaurants allowed to do this? I mean is this really legal? Unfortunately, this has totally puit me off this restaurant. I don't mind paying any amount for great food, but this is clearly daylight robbery!!!!

The food is good. I was quite impressed with the quality. However i am not sure about the place being child friendly. Sometimes a bit overcrowded, i am sure a bit more space could be helpful. The average waiting time for meals could be better.
Generally speaking 805 is one of the best Nigerian cuisines around at the moment.
