The Swimmer at the Grafton Arms

Firstly, allow me to declare a partisan interest: this has been my local for the last 6 years so I am probably a little biased.
When I consider the grimier alternatives on or around Holloway Road, the Swimmer stands out as the best pub in the area by a mile.
Most of the lagers on tap are of Czech origin and are not really my sort of thing but seem to be popular with the regulars. More welcome are the excellent selection of bitters and guest ales which include Cornish Coaster, Deuchars, London Pride, Honey Dew, Butcombe Bitter and more The wines are thoroughly decent, if unspectacular. The lively Rioja is the pick of the reds at £18.95, whilst a Kiwi Chardonnay represents great VFM at £13.95.
The Swimmer really excels when it comes to food. Whether you fancy a £7.50 cheeseburger or a £12.95 steamed Sea Bass, there are plenty of tasty options on offer. All the dishes are freshly prepared in their open-plan kitchen and use quality, seasonal ingredients which are reflected in the imaginative and frequently changing menu and daily specials. The head Chef Giusuppe knows who he's cooking for and always delivers.
I have just read the other review citing the 'posh clientele'. I make no apologies either for being middle-class or for being able to enjoy an evening without wanting to headbutt a stranger in the teeth. If you feel like compromising some dental work, the Enkel on Seven Sisters Road is where you should head.
