Before the refurbishment they used to allow dogs, now they have followed the others with the exception of the Thomas Cubitt and banned them. The Thomas Cubitt not only serves wonderful food in the bar area but has a special dog bowl for the local dogs who are made to feel welcome. So please do not use the excuse that it is illegal to allow dogs into a bar that serves restaurant as we well know that this is not the case.

I am not sure if the previous reviewer was in the same pub. This is my local as such only living a stones throw away. I can hardly say that it is ever mainly full of locals and only a few tourists, I would think it far more likely it is the other way around. This pub is at best uninspiring and at worst abysmal. The food is run of the mill pub grub, that is probably preprepared in a factory. There is a poor range of beer and the decor including the carpet looks like it has been there long before its heyday in the 70's. It is a real shame as they could play on the fact that so many budding rock stars like Jimi Hendrix played there. I guess that is what you expect though these days from the homogoneous brewery owned bars.

Spending a few hours at the Bag O'Nails on a weekday afternoon was indeed a treat. Having been to the establishment in the 70s, I was hopeful it had maintained it's character. I was not disapointed. The well-worn ambiance (if that's the right word to use for a pub) remained as did the excellent selection of ales and beers. The excellent food (a great example of "pub grub") was as I remembered it except the portions were, if anything, larger. The crowd was mostly locals with few tourists. I like it that way for although I am technically a tourist few would guess. On my next photo excursion to London, Bag O'Nails is a must visit!
