I'm almost scared to write this as this is my favourite restaurant and don't want more customers making a booking as it can be very hard to book a table sometimes! It's a tiny place, doesn't look like a restaurant from outside, but the food is just fantastic. It's just as good as I've had in Japan, with fresh, tender fish and just the right amount of seasoned rice to go with each morsel. I also like the no-fuss service and the smiley chefs who work their magic in the middle. If I had to pick one fault their miso soup often comes with very gritty cockles, but I still order it anyway. Very good value for money, when they go away for summer I count the days until they come back so I can go there again.

I took my elderly grandfather who had been a prisoner of the Japanese in the 1940s to Sushi Hiro.

The food was fresh as it should be and the drinks brought over quickly by smiling waitresses.

My Grandfather regaled us of stories of the camps in a fairly loud voice, which caused some raised eyebrows and redfaces on some of the tables. but this just added to the fun and atmosphere! As he said, he wished he had eaten as well in the camp. Well Done Sushi Hiro.. rebuilding bridges !!! LOL !! (pun intended!)

It was such a relief to find Sushi Hiro. Who cares about decor. We want SUSHI.

What makes the difference is the rice. Sushi restaurants outside Japan tend to think, slap on a fresh piece of fish on vinegared rice - and that should do. I hear quite often "oh, the fish was so fresh!" of course the fish has to be fresh. That's taken for granted. It's the RICE that makes it or breaks it. Sushi Hiro has the right rice, and the correct proportion (rice bit tends to be too big in sushi catered for Westerners). Make sure your Nigiri is done by the boss there though. His underlings are not quite up to scratch.

I was so glad to find Sushi Hiro. It was recommended by a number of Japanese residents of London. They are the great judge and critique. It is absolutely wonderful and everytime I dream of Sushi, I would think of this place. I have tried many other sushi restaurants in London, but SUSHI HIRO is the only place that compares with sushi in Japan.

Despite I am very very fussy when it comes to sushi, Sushi-Hiro is a little gem that is the closest thing to what I have back home. Excellent quality, honest sushi is guaranteed. Every piece is made by chef (not by robot..) to perfection, rice is small as it should be, fish is extremely fresh and juicy. OK, they close for two-week for summer and winter holiday, they only take cash, and their last order is 9pm. But hey, what the heck! This is the only place I order a-la-carte sushi as freely as I wish without worrying about the bank balance. They also have, short, but wonderful selection of cold sake by the glass. Truly, wonderful place.

i defenetry say sushi hiro is the best sushi restaurant in london, i mean taste great.possibly better than sushi in tokyo. [sushi tastes better in contryside in japan where they catch fish!]

fish is always super fresh, and the rice is nice and small to fit in the mouth.

[some english people might complain sushi is a little small in sushi hiro, but usually cheap sushi come with bigger rice, and posh sushi come with smaller rice, the size is important]

i usually order indivisually. must have sushi here are UNI, TORO [FATTY TUNA], HAMACHI [YELLOW TAIL], BOTAN EBI [HUGE PROWN], IKA SHISO MAKI [SQUID ROLL WITH JAPANESE HERB]. and pays about £20 with happy stomach.

I've been to many many sushi places in town before and was recommended to try this place by a sushi fanatic. Went there last night and have to agree that this has the best sushi in London-period! All the fish I ate was amazing- and the tuna belly was devine- and I'm not even a big fan of tuna! And if you like something a bit strange, the squid and nettle roll is highly recommended.

Not the cheapest sushi I've ever eaten- but very good value for the quality and the 10-piece superior nigiri sushi set is a bargain at £12. But it adds up when you start ordering the individual sushi on top of that cos you can't resist: sea urchins, abalone, herring roe, crab roll, flying rish roe which was very crunchy and the best!, more scallops, more tuna, more salmon, you get the picture!

They give you green tea at the end which is nice. It has regular Japanese customers, a good sign, and the waitress was polite, if a little lacking in English, which was fine as I have been warned about that first! I would recommend booking first, as I noticed all the tables had reserved signs on them when I arrived and only got a table as it was still very early (around 5.30pm)

Don't expect hot food- but with sushi that good- you won't care....! I will have to move to the west one day and just have take -out there all the time- like everyone else from what I saw last night!

Sushi Hiro, in my opinion is the best authentic Sushi I've had in London to date. I've tried many other Sushi restaurants and Sushi Hiro is still top of the Sushi charts for me. The fish is always amazingly fresh and tasty. I would not recommend Sushi Hiro for a special occasion as there is no real ambience and it has a rather clinical feel to it. ONLY go there to sample amazing Sushi but do not expect a fun night out with ambience! Remember, they only accept cash and you must make a reservation. I absolutely adore the Sushi and just thinking of it makes my mouth water. Their salmon sashimi is excellent. They usually use organic salmon.

Went here finally on Sunday, having had an eye on it for ages. Probably the best Sushi we have had in london, unbelievably fresh and eye-opening. The otoro, tuna, Scallops, Squid everything was top.

This is a very pared-down restaurant for Sushi and sashimi aficionados, cash only, limited eating times, no real atmosphere, no hot food (beyond a bowl of Miso), but for the best fish at amazingly cheap prices look no further. The Deluxe chirashi set or the deluxe Nigiri sets are the only way to go, the Squid and shiso rolls were excellent as well. Sake is also very reasonably priced - £3.00 for a Tokkuri that costs upwards of £5.00 in most central places.

This is serious sushi for true sushi aficianados. Before you even eat, there are signs of this place being serious - you won't get in without a reservation, you have one hour time slot with a reservation, cash only, serves sushi only, and most of the diners are Japanese.

The fish is fresh, more than the usual salmon/tuna variety, serves on proper moist rice.

It's not for everybody, not even most London sushi fans (especially those who like rolls and can't handle sashimi). However, if you are a sushi purist, this is it.
