The reason we went to Awana is the positive feedback from Micheal Winner.

I was not dissapointed at all.

Starter- The corn fed chicken and pomelo salad was delicious.

Main Course- Beef Rendang and Morning Glory was tasty and beautiful presented.

Dessert- Roti ,OMG I had orgasm having this sweet bread.

In short the food was delicious, service was attentive and helpful waiteress and cosey deco.

I will be back real soon.

I recommend Awana as the place to eat before going to a west end show, great service awesome food and only a short cab journey to the west end theatres.

Being someone who hates the overrated west end places these sites try and push to eat before going to a show, I took a risk and told my girlfriend to leave it to me to book, having been to Mango Tree a week earlier with work, which I was informed is owned by the same owner, I fancied trying Malaysian food after all I had no clue what it was or would taste like having never been there before and also its located in Chelsea so it must be half decent and how I was not wrong there.

It was a pleasure dining at Awana my girlfriend and I loved the variety of wines they offer and the food was fresh and delicious, my girlfriend is a vegetarian and normally so difficult to cater for the veggie menu was varied and presented as good as the wonderful meat dishes I had.

The evening was really nice great service, friendly staff, Amazing food, good value for money and the girlfriend may let me choose again so it must have been good come on guys how hard is it to get it right with the ladies.

I am even going to book Valentines night at Awana as the style and setting of the restaurant should make it a perfect night.

We had a great meal and really enjoyed the food. We had loads to eat and drink - starters, mains, desert. We drank mineral water and wine. Everything was very nice... but then, we were almost ready to leave and I was quite thirsty, so I asked for a glass of tap water.... The waiter told me that they don't serve tap water!!?? After we spent so much money... they wouldn't give me a glass of water...?? I didn't even think that was legal..? I often go to really nice restaurants, but never came accross this!

The atmosphere was very nice too... until the water episode. A party of about 10 on one of the other tables were also complaining. I think they were served tap water, but then had to pay for it!

We would probably never go to Awana again and I don't think any one on the other table would either, which is really a shame, as the food was really nice!

Oh yes, and there is only warm water in the bathrooms in case you considered getting your own glass!

Probably not worth making so many customers unhappy... and that over a few glasses of water!!

I took my wife out for dinner and was looking for a different venue as we are getting tired of eating French or Italian food, I found Awana from this website and after reading the disappointing reviews decided to give it a go and what a great decision I made.

Arrived a little bit early than booked but was met by very friendly and well presented staff, we decided to sit in the bar area until our table was ready, amazed me how many cocktails were on offer and how the bar staff could remember them, anyway sampled a few and must say they have an awesome range of cocktail glasses which made the presentation top class.

We were taken to our table on time it was very nicely presented and the restaurant was a perfect setting for our romantic evening out, not too loud and very trendy, we decided to go for the Malaysian Journey which was about a 8 course set meal not expensive at £36.00 per head, each course was perfect portions and each course was presented as good as any Gordon Ramsey restaurant I have been to.

My wife and I had a great time and I would like to thank Ken and William who looked after us all evening, making our night enjoyable, we certainly will be recommending Awana to all our friends and family.

Very nice food but a slightly disappointing experience overall: My parent’s and I decided to go to Awana (to celebrate my birthday) because it claimed to be ‘the finest Malaysian Restaurant in London’, and promised décor of lush silk and delicate glass. (We normally go to the Blue Elephant in Fulham, but thought Malaysian food would make a nice change from Thai – especially as the menu offered more choice, being halal.) When I booked I had asked for 8pm, but was told they only did 7.30; however we were reassured that this would be OK so long as we vacated the table by 9.30 (no problems, as we rarely have three courses or tea/coffee). This did of course mean that we couldn’t take advantage of 50%-off offers which aren’t valid after 6.30 on Thursdays. We were told there was metered parking ‘all around’ – but discovered available parking was residential, so it took a while to find a place. My mum has arthritis and can’t walk far, so in the end my dad dropped us before parking up. Therefore, arriving a little late we expected to be rushed to our table, but instead we had to wait in the bar for over 15 mins (on low seats that were difficult for my mum). Eventually we were led to the table right next to the swinging kitchen door. The place was packed and noisy (playing havoc on my dad’s hearing aid), and though the staff tried hard and seemed friendly and helpful they were clearly rushed off their feet. We had no continuity of service – we were served by at least 5 different staff during the evening. Our drinks orders weren’t even taken for 10 mins or so, and when they arrived the apple juice tasted straight out of a carton (not what you’d expect for ‘fine’ dining); admittedly the ‘fresh’ orange juice received a better reception. I did ask if we still needed to leave by 9.30; the waitress went to check and I’m still waiting for the response!! The starters were lovely and presented well – we had tiger prawn satay and chicken parcels to share; the satay sauce deserves a special mention. But then we had another long wait for the main course; plenty of time to gaze at the décor. There is a lot of dark wood, but I’m afraid the silks and glass were lost on me as I was distracted by the rather gaudy 2-a-penny plastic flags scattered around the place. (Flags are fine- but not these cheap ones which have a place in a crowded football match). There was also plenty of time for three of the staff to ask if we wanted water (which is poured into HUGE glasses; @ £4.50/bottle clearly where they make profits). There was even time for one of the owners to come by all the tables and check we were all OK – a nice, personal touch which would have been better appreciated by us if we hadn’t been waiting so long for the food….which eventually came on trays so big that some of the staff couldn’t manage them. (Using serving trestles which had to be continually opened and closed was an accident waiting to happen in such a crowded place!) The main course was fine. The prawn special was full of flavour if a little sweet, the rest like any average Malaysian restaurant. Nothing particularly special about the presentation; rather ordinary looking crockery and arrangement of food; nothing to gush about, nor complain. The staff did have a nice gesture of bring me a birthday dessert - replete with candles and ‘Happy Birthday’ song - which was a nice surprise that my dad must have asked for. Finally we got the bill – not as bad as we thought it might be, but quite disappointing to have to pay £1 for a spoonful of hot chilli sauce when the total bill was over £100 (though we had been warned that we would be charged the pound). We left the restaurant (empty handed, unlike when we have a lovely orchid to remind us of our meal when we go to the Blue Elephant). I must mention a last kindly gesture as I stepped out of the door (from one of the staff that hadn’t served us) -wishing me a happy birthday !

Smart, buzzy place with authentic menu and friendly attentive staff though not overwhelmingly so. Food tasted great and overall a very pleasant meal, of the kind you could get in many such places across London. However, though the well-heeled local clientele probably don't mind, this place is very expensive for what you get and I would only recommend on the 50% offer. Even with this, the bill for two courses with wine and drinks came to almost £90. At full price I would be expecting something very special which this is not.

Lovely restaurant located off Sloane Avenue. Staff were numerous and very efficient and friendly.

The starters - a mix of corn fed chicken, lamb satay skewers, bread and scallops were beautiful and tasty.

Mixed seafood noodles and mixed seafood with peppers were nice although the fish did taste a bit bland. Ice cream desserts were excellent.

Bill for 2 with 50% off starters and main courses was £81 incl 12.5% service charge. Recommended.
