We had Diwali Celebration for our Indian team members yestarday at Shelz. The ambience was great, space perfect, the right music..I could go on and on!!!
Try aloo tikki's,they are really cool. And the paan that Amin specially arranged for us. The staff is very courteous and they get a 10\10 in customer satisfaction. Shelz is perfect for a business lunch. It was worth every bit of money we spent.

There are quite a few indian restaurants in the same area as Shelz and I have tried them all, Shelz is definatly at the top of the list!
Ive been there for quiet meals with only a few friends and also for a birthday with lots of people. Both were catered for fantastically! The staff are very friendly and amused our birthday celebration with a variety of fruit! (I'll say no more)
I cannot fault this restaurant!

I am dissapointed to read the previous reveiw of this superb indian restaurant. It is such a shame when you find excellent food, good value, nice staff, good decor and yet still they seem to be struggling to get the punters in. This could well be a case of location, location but please do not let that put you off. I have recomended this place to several friends an none have had a bad word to say. Try the prawns or squid, in an indian what more can I say!!!!!!!

what a difference from your normal indian!! The classy Shelz Restaurant has a very modern and contemprary decor. The staff were friendly and courteous. The Squid with garlic (as should be in all the restaurants) was fabulous appetiser. The fat and juicy king prawn in curry leaves was to die for as was the Trout in tamarind sauce. The wine list was extensive. I loved it and would definetely go again.

If you're residents of E4 (or SW1 for that matter), mind the crossing at Highams Park Station and get yourself over to this out-of-the-blue venue - the firdt venture for Mohammed Alam as chef-proprietor. What strikes you first about SHELZ is the genuinely relaxed, contemporary air about the place with its cerise-and-cream interior, slatted blinds, high-backed chairs and, most importantly, charming waiters that stay on the right side of attentive. This smart six-month-old addition to the area has divided dining rooms (the smaller, pictured above, for those who want to light up) and offers sensibly priced authentic Indian fare, specialising in north and south dishes. Anticipation mounting, always a good sign, it was down to business.
After prevaricating over the impressive menu (what's new?) and with a little help from well-informed manager, we plumed for two successfil appetisers: Sabji Bahar (cumin-scented pan-fried potatoes, grilled broccoli, diced indian cheese) nad Shelz Rattan (tender squid tossed with onions and garlic).
Here dining is unrushed....time to savour these leisurely entrees (all served on stylish square plates, heated, which also scores) accompanied by must-have papadoms with the traditional chutneys and sauces that managed to be uncommonly good.
The canny owner, drawinginfluences from across the subcontinent is catering for fish and meat eaters in equal measure. From the Tandoori selectiona recommended favourite with customers is the Tandoori Trout, a dry dish of fresh trout marinated in spices with charcoaled skin as edible as the flesh itself.
Wafting aromas from a nearby table (Lamb Mushroom Piazza?) drew us to the Gourmet selection though we chose instead a Shelz Special from the list, a succulent chicken and lamb combo garnished with straw mushroom, florets of broccoli and more. All the traditional dish are here too, from korma to vindaloo, but for seafood fans the King prawn Jalfrezi offered a (very) hot alternative with green chillis, capsicum and diced onions, quelled by a refreshing mint sauce and washed down with the robust Merlot house - and not a little iced water.
As a place to meet, drink and dine, this is a great space for business lunches, evening get-togethers or Sunday buffet...a worthy winner.

Went to Shelz for a Business lunch and was swept away into another world, we totally forgot about work, and just completely relaxed and loved the wine/fare, and atmosphere. The restaurant came highly recommended and i will do the same.... A definite GEM in Highams Park... will be back. Hopefully very soon. Prices reasonable for the service and quality of food.
