The Boathouse

We've enjoyed our meals here, in the top floor restaurant, since it opened: lovely river views, run by a well-trained, friendly Australian team, with good value, reasonable quality food. For some reason (a lot of local restaurant openings that have kept us busy trying new places) we hadn't been back since last summer. What a shame it's gone downhill so much since last summer. On our visit yesterday, the welcome was missing, the East European waitresses barely spoke English and were untrained, the beefburgers could only be served well-done (sure sign of poor quality) and our guest, who had the fishcake "special" has had the runs ever since! The excellent fish and chips were no longer on the menu - and, we now suspect, for good reason.
