Have to say, was really excited about trying this "little gem" that was so highly rated in the reviews. Unfortunately I was seriously disappointed. The service was, at best, sloth speed and the food, dull.

Four of us dined, two had the steak frites, one lamb and I had a galette. The steak did taste beautiful but was served with a handful of pre-packed salad! The peppercorn sauce was the consistency of wallpaper paste and, well, lets just say, don't think any comis chefs broke into a sweat grinding the little black berries to make it! Again, the lamb was cooked perfectly but was served with rubber (aka "lasagne"). My galette (crepe) had to be returned to the kitchen as the egg inside was raw (-the egg white was not white!).

Did not stick around to taste coffee as figured it was quicker to go home and make our own!

Considering the previous reviews, I imagine we maybe caught them on an off day but certainly won't be returning- shame!

What a super place. First of all, I have to say, The goats cheese starter wrapped in filo with walnuts and honey was divine. I have a couple of personal "tests" for French restaurants. 1) When I book, I like the person taking the booking to negotiate on the time, sometimes by as little as 10 or 15 minutes. This tells me that they are really doing the job in the kitchen, preparing fresh food and cooking it properly to order. 2) When I order cheese I wait to see what turns up with it. Crackers - oh dear - I'm unlikely to go back, but a nice basket of French bread (without prompting) - as enjoyed at La Petite Auberge in Teddington, gives that additional bit of authenticity. 3) A simple and uncomplicated wine list and knowledgeable staff on it's content. No need to comment further!

Any complaints? Um, possibly that I would have preferred a fillet steak over the rib eye, but that's it, hardly a complaint.

In summary, a filling 3 course dinner for two with aperitifs, wine, digestifs and tip for under a hundred quid in a non-pretentious, clean, atmospheric and friendly restaurant is, in my opinion, a bargain. Thoroughly recommended!

La Petit Auberge is just a fabulous restaurant. Intimate and chic, the food is great and the service authentic. If you like good, French food this is the place for you and it's great value too.

This is a wonderful restaurant which, being French, does not offer curry (nor, for that matter, do most of the Chinese restaurants I know). The quality of the Auberge's totally authentic cuisine is first class, and the prices are remarkably low considering how good it is. The service is friendly and dicreet, the atmosphere jolly without being noisy.

I think James may have written about the pub, Auberge, in Teddington.

They do a £10 curry deal, which is not brilliant.

La Petit Auberge is the venue that people are posting about. It's the small french restaurant opposite. They dont do curry.......because they are French.

And having been to LPA, I can say its downright amazing. Food and service, first rate. The locals of Teddington have a total gem in their midst.

Shall be going back soon.

I really don't think the person who left the review about the £10 curry

really know what is he talking about. La Petite Auberge doesn't serve this kind of dish, simply check their menu and you will see....This person was probably refering to another restaurant .

La Petite Auberge serves quality traditional French food for an excellent value for money...this is tasty, well presented and well served ,defenitely one of my favourite restaurant.

Me and a work colleague wnet for lunch and ordered a £10 curry

To say it was shoddy was an understatement.

The portion was rubbish- the chicken tasted funny and the service was crap

Overpriced junk- I will never EVER go back there again

We've been going to La Petite Auberge for years - it is a consistently first class experience: its relatively humble appearance belies the quality of the food, wine and service, which are all outstanding, but particularly the food. It is also very reasonably priced. La Petite Auberge is simply much better than many grander or contemporary places in central London - and significantly better value. Clement is a fantastic host and the service is always paced just right. Overall, I could not recommend his restaurant more highly.

It would be no exageration to suggest that this is one of the finest French restaurants in SW London. Clement & his staff are friendly & efficient. The food always seems to arrive at the right time & you never feel rushed or ignored. They get the balance just right. But this is no good if the food isn't up to the service. There are no worries on that front. The food is of the highest quality both in the ingredients used & the final result. Whether you want a quick lunch, the Croque Monsieur is the best I've ever had or something more sustancial, their steak are always cooked to perfection & don't get me started on the deserts. Simply a great restaurant.

A small (i.e. intimate) bistro with seriously superior food featuring an unbelieveably good value Sunday menu (£7 for two courses Nov '06).

While we ate, they must have turned away at least 10-14 prospective diners, indicating the need to book.

My duck rilette was rustic and flavoursome, while my moules portion simply delicious and BIG. An omlette (large enough to completely faze a hungry 7 year old), croque monsieur (oozing with bechemel sauce) and quiche lorraine were all freshly cooked and in generously sized portions.

The chef had no problem with tailoring the contents of the dishes to our specific tastes (indicating that the meals are all freshly prepared).

My glass of cider was excellent, although I thought the wine list by the glass, started a little highly priced (£4.10 a glass, if I remember correctly).

In addition to all this, we enjoyed child-friendly, welcoming, professional service making the whole experience one which will, without a doubt, be repeated.
