That's Amore

Think we must have had an off night here. It appeared that they were short staffed - tables were left unprepared and was taking an age to be served (our waiter looked like he was also cooking in the kitchens). Starters were very good (but you can’t really go wrong with mushrooms and goats cheese). The issue lay with the mains - my partners had duck in a cherry sauce. The duck was fine but the sauce was from tinned cherries and the duck was drowning in it. My steak Rossini sauce also had a distinctive packet taste to it. Oh and the al dente carrots were so al dente they had not been cooked.
It is such a shame as I have been before and enjoyed it - that time there was lots of staff on. But afraid it has really put me off going again.

We eat at That's Amore a lot and thoroughly enjoy it. The staff are always friendly, food is of a consistently good standard - won't blow you away with inventiveness but is always properly/well cooked and good value. Good menu, standard Pastas (seafood is particularly good), fish, steak, calves liver and various specials, If you want a good neighbourhood restaurant, this is it - you'll normally need to book at weekends.

This is quite a random little place in a shabby row of shops in Sydenham, but such a nice surprise as the food is absolutely delicious, it's authentic Italian with huge portions, fantastic home made cheesecake for dessert! The decor is a little old fashioned but it's nice to go to a family owned place where the service is great, the food fantastic and also extremely good value for money!

I discivered this gem, 4 years ago, when I lived nearby, and eat here every so often, even though I live miles away.
The restaurant is family owned and run, the food is always fantastic, as well as the service, it is just like home cooking.
The bill is normally about £50-£60 for the 2 of us, for starter, main course, wine and coffee.
It's one of those places, where you are always assured of an enjoyable evening, the service and food are consistently high.
Well worth a visit, you wont be dissapointed.
