I went to this restaurant with 6 friends. The food was not bad, the service not bad either to be fair. They took our coats at the door and we were running late and they did not seem to mind. The toilets clean. We went to the one near the London eye and I think it great location. Everything was fine but the price. Then to top it all the final bill was over £320 for the group plus £35 service charge which I think is not acceptable. I personally think it is too much and I would not want to go to a restaurant which fixes its own tip. So Dear Gerard you tipped us Goodbye and will not recomend this restaurant to anyone because of that. Even though the food was fine, it was not worth £35 tip. Tip off Gerard.

Shockingly bad, don't go here. Not only is it pretty grubby (try looking out of the window), but the service is some of the poorest in London, which is pretty poor.
I ordered the meat platter, which stated on the menu that it came with bread.
As this amounted to 2 very small pieces of baguette, I asked for slightly more, only to find that she put £2 (yes, TWO POUNDS) on the bill for it.
It also took over an hour to have a one-course lunch, which given the place was completely empty is absolutely ridiculous. It took us 20 minutes to get water, and 40 minutes to get food.
There are many places that serve better food in the vicinity for considerably less money - in fact pretty much anywhere does.

A group of five went for a catch up, the food was cold, and in all probability previosuly frozen or under lights all evening. The service was miserable, unhelpful, misunderstanding and slow (over an hour).
I have eaten at many other Chez Gerard's they are usually of a good standard, however this lowers the bar, It is very poorly run and I would recommend that you find somewhere else.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. It's a gorgeous restaurant, rather like a gentlemen's club. The duck confit with prunes and armagnac was delicious, as was the burger, which was served with golden, thin crispy fries. A plate of beautiful vegetables came with the duck, enough for two. We'll definitely return.
