Slug and Lettuce

Taking advantage of a special offer from The Daily Telegraph (which gives a 50% discount on food) we decided that this would be a place worth trying for a quick lunch as we've never eaten at a Slug and Lettuce before.
There are lots of meals deals and special offers which represent good value for money but if the state of the hamburgers we ate is anything to go by I would avoid this place.
The burgers were cooked to the extreme, with a thick encasing of charcoal giving way to a dry texture inside. This was also accompanied with a dry piece of withered red onion (it looked more than a week old).
When we pointed this out to a charming waitress she was very apologetic. It appears that they twice cook the burgers and I mentioned this. She said that the burger was cooked fresh this morning (we were having lunch at 1pm). She suggested we speak to the manager who apologised for the food and said that he would take something off the bill.
We then tendered our 50% of voucher and noticed that there wasn't a discount for the poor state of food (I have only eaten 25% of my meal). We were told that beacuse we had the voucher we couldn't be compensated for the poor quality of food.
In short, the Slug and Lettuce thinks that it is okay to serve their customers overcooked (burnt and twice heated) and substandard food.
I would suggest that the kitchen think about improving the freshness of produce and monitor quality.

Wow Great!
My wife and I visited The Slug and Lettuce in Soho on Friday evening (22nd February 2008)
From the moment we entered this very vibrant restaurant we knew we were in for a treat.
The welcome we got from the staff was first class. The food we had was of an excellent standard, and the advice about the menu we got from the waitress was very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for her. What a refreshing change it makes these days to visit a restaurant and to be served with such politeness and someone who wants to please the customer plus a smile. The bread and oils has to be seen to believed, it was a fantastic start to our meal
Thanks for a memorable night out
