Went here for a birthday there was 6 of us in total. Overall it was a good restaurant, what you're paying for is the decor for sure; it dazzles the eye, very pleasing. The food was not as equally good but still quite reaonsable I was certainly satisfied. In terms of food quality i've been to better North African restaurants but also eaten alot worse. The music was good and themed appropriately and the belly dancer provides abit of novelty that will have you up there dancing with her, if you dare (she will come to your table no doubt so you have no choice!) The sheesha's there are these herbal ones that light up, had to see it to believe it really! This place uses the TASTE card so we saved a few quid there, but still it was relatively expensive. Overall a good place, you can't go wrong.

My boyfirend and I visited this place last night and our overall comment would be if you like carrots this is the place for you! having just read the previous reviews it would seem that the set menu is the best deal for food. We however went for the tagines. The vegetable tagine was a load of carrots and chickpeas and the chicken tagine was the same but with a bit of chicken on top. Disappointing. And expensive.
The atmosphere and decor were good. The place was full of crowds of young people all dressed up for clubbing. It felt a bit like a 'hen party' venue. We would go back but pick our table and food much more carefully! The belly dancer was brilliant.

Gorgeous! The interior/decor is very pleasing to the eye and the food is delicious!!! Fair prices with decent portions. Try the mezze style set menu, a satisfying variety of dishes (3 courses) and you can eat as much as you want for a set price....excellent value for money!

Went to Souk for a friends birthday and was initially very impressed with the decor and atmosphere of the place.
Our waitress had little understanding of english so sadly it went downhill when we were shown to our table however the food we ordered was delicious! We had the £20 a head set menu. This in hindsight was a bit of a mistake as our waitress didn't explain to us that they 're-fill' all the plates of food when empty, so we just thought that the portions were very stingy and were left wondering why we were paying £20 for about 3 mouthfuls of food each. There was also a little misunderstanding about the table booking that again was hard to understand as the waitress couldn't explain it properly to us.
The manager was very understanding and gave us money off our bill. I had never not paid service in my life but felt it wasn't appropriate to given the service was terrible. I don't think the birthday girl will be recommending Souk to anyone in the near future as I don't think they coped with a large group very adequately.
However I would definitely go back because what little I did eat was delicious and now I know about the re-fills I would make the most of it :)

General opinion: Vastly overpriced food, good service, nice decor, but tables far too close together for it to be comfortable dining leading to accidents that should have been completely avoided!
My girlfriend and I decided to have a late lunch/early dinner at Souk Medina after hearing praise from one of her friends about the fabulous decor and food, which was also halal.
After a little searching around we finally found it, travelled through a dark cavernous tunnel into the restaurant itself at around 5. The restaurant like the tunnel leading to it was very nicely decorated, making it easy to forget you were in london at all. We were promptly seated at a table that had been set up for 3, giving us a little more space than usual I believe. The server was friendly and remained attentive throughout the meal, which was a plus.
The starters that we ordered (Zalouuk and another with the lamb sausage that I forget the name of...) were served with bread and weren't bad per se, but far from being delicious also.
A table of 6 was seated next to us, at a table that had been set for 5, even though they had booked. The proximity of the table meant what they're dissatisfaction was easily heard, and also resulted in one of the ladies managing to knock over a glass of still water on our table as she tried to get in. The restaurant diid provide us with a complimentary bottle of water, which was nice of them.
The mains arrived very quickly, before we had really finished the starter. Better early than late I guess! They were very filling, but did nothing asides from that unfortunately. For the price, we were expecting something of a higher caliber. Filling though at least! Very filling to be honest. You could easily share one of the couscous dishes.
In terms of food the place is "good" but definitely not worth the price charged. Thankfully my Taste London card reduced the bill from ~£70 (with two rounds of soft drinks) roughly in half.
A word of warning for those of us who are taller, this restaurant might not be the most comfortable of places. The tables are very low off the ground and the closeness of one table to the next prevents any stretching of the legs unfortunately.

Absolutely superb! I went there last night for my birthday with a few friends and we were looked after extremely well. The food was amazing (one friend said it was the best meal she'd ever had) and there's a very good wine list. I highly recommend this place!

I went to Souk Medina on a Saturady evening for my friend's going away party. The service was excellent, the food was out of this world and the atmosphere amazing. We were about 15 people and we all had the Set Menu. I was amazed that the kitchen was able to cater for all of us at once without any delays. The evening was succesful and I had a great time. There was a bellydancer show which added to the already lively atmosphere. As I had a great time at my friend's going away party I decided to take my girlfriend to Souk medina for an intimate dinner last Thursday. To my surprise the restaurant was quite busy for a Thursday. We were immediately seated at a cosy comfortable table which suited the ocasion perfectly. Me and my girlfirend decided to try the A le Carte this time. As a starter I had the Vine Leaves and my girlfriend had the Mergvez (lamb sausages), both dishes were delicious. As a main I had the Tagine of Lamb and Prune and my girlfriend had the Chicken with feta Cheese & Spinach. Again an excellent choice. For desert I would reccommend the baklava with mint tea, we also tried the cheescake which tasted great.
After my two experiences at Souk Medina, I would deffinitely be returning. Souk medina is quickly becoming one of my favourite restaurants and i am already making plans to have dinner there again and at the same time in the process of convincing my friend to have his birthday party there.
Located in central London, Souk Medina is the ideal place for any ocasion. Deffinitely reccommended.

I went to Souk Medina on a Friday evening and I must say it is an excellent restaurant. The reception was welcoming and friendly and I immediately felt at home. The food was amazing, the service was excellent. We were quite a large group, we all had the Set Menu (which is also free refill) and it was good value for money. All in all it was a great evening and I would reccommend it for large groups and for intimate romantic evenings.
I will deffinitely return and am even considereing having my 28th birthday there.
To conclude, go to Souk Medina for great food, atmosphere and service.
