Souk Medina proved to be a fantastic venue for my birthday dinner. We were seated at the restaurant balcony - All 16 of us at the dinner were extremely pleased by the warm hospitality, prompt service and excellent ambience - which made my 26th quiet memorable. It was nice not being forced into a set menu. Another highlight of the day was the belly dancer who got everyone involved and by the end of the evening the staff joined us for the cake cutting ceremony (with an Arabic version of 'happy birthday' song being played in the background) - ahh Unforgettable! Highly recommend getting in touch with the manager - Samir if you are up for a grand.

TERRIBLE!!!!! I can not express how terrible an experience I had at this restaurant on Saturday. The waiting staff were rude, we were served our mains 2 minutes after our starter and when we asked that they bring the food back we were told no! The food was therefore left on the table next to ours to get cold under the AC unit. We ordered the set menu but didn't receive all the dishes - the waitress appeared with the chip and pin machine while we were still eating and hadn't even considered getting the bill. I have eaten at Souk many times before but i would 100% discourage anyone from going there now. We were planning our work Xmas party there this year but that will not be happening now! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Really wouldn't recommend at all - this is the first review I've ever written about a restaurant! The service was very slow - it took half an hour for the starter to arrive (one order of naan!) and the main course was equally slow. This is partly my mistake but they don't mention that you need to order side dishes separately so what I effectively ordered was a bowl of luke-warm fatty lamb and it was pretty impossible to get hold of a waiter to ask for something to go with it once I had received it.

It was also very dark (was atmospheric to start with but when you can't see your food it's a problem!) - I think we may have been ignored because we had the tastelondon card so beware of that. Other tables around seemed to be being served just fine whereas we just felt ignored... Too expensive too. The only thing this place has going for it is its decor, otherwise avoid.

Awful service. Awful food. Overpriced. We went for shisha and were sat outside which meant we were literally neglected for the whole evening. Staff were not friendly at all. Had to take a 1min walk to the toilets as they had isolated us from the rest of the restaurant. Evening ruined. And decor was tacky.

The setting is nice and so is the belly dancing.

Food is very disappointing as are the prices. Service was awful too.

Stick to some cocktails and starters and have dinner somewhere else

Three of us went last night, we all went for the set menu. We were left for a good while before someone came to order our drinks which was disappointing as it wasn't busy. We all ordered the set menu and it came very quickly....Starters were ok, the houmous was a bit watery, the pitta bread a bit dry. The main course came out almost immediately as the starters were taken away. The chicken was cold so we sent it back and it returned very shortly, steaming hot, I suspect a microwave was involved. The lamb tasted so much of cinnamon that you could barely taste anything else! We had a taste card so got 50% off the food bill.

I wouldn't go back as the food wasn't up to scratch. The atmosphere was lacking a bit too but it was a Tuesday night so there's probably not much they could have done about that.

Initial impression of atmosphere is good, decor is good, food is fine. HOWEVER, it's wildly overpriced, and they rush you through the eating experience like no restaurant I've ever been to; they make it clear through their actions they want you in, paid, and out, very quickly indeed. They also try something I've never seen before: for the bill, a waitress sits at table with card machine telling you the price each - no paperwork is offered. Nice. Would Not recommend to a friend.

Visited Souk today for my daughters 14th birthday lunch and the whole experience was pretty bad. The decor is a little over done and just really feels like a theme restaurant. I am not against this type of decor but its just feels a little phoney.

We had to wait for 45 min to be seated after we where sat at a table which was in near dark.

We ordered some starters which where very expensive and then decided not to order a main course. The humous tasted watered down, the hallumi was £6.00 for 4 small pieces, which was burnt, and cold. Hallumi isn't so nice when its cold.

Our bill for 6 people to have some starters and 4 beers was £80 and we complained and they reduced by 50%.

One waitress was lovely and is wasted in such a place.

Wouldn't go anywhere near it again.

the atmosphere is certainly not disappointing however the set menu certainly is!!attended meal here with a group of friends of varying ages most of for whom this was their first experience of this sort of restuarant and food. The kir royale was neither kir nor royale and sure it is a meze, but the portions were from oliver!!Not even enough for all to eat even on first serving.ll the tagines appeared watered down and there was only over cooked spinach and unsliced chickpeas for vegetarians.Sure we only booked for set meal, but our money is hard earned we are nurses, and it was a dissapointment

I took my parents and my boyfriend to Souk Medina at 7pm on a Friday evening - parents and boyfriend were meeting for the first time. It was a bad choice because we were seated on a sort of balcony area right next to a speaker and the Arabic music (which I generally like) was booming out. Then when the belly dancer appeared they turned the music up even louder. We and several people on the tables around us asked them to turn it down but they said it had to be loud for the belly dancer. I could only speak to my Mum, sitting next to me, by shouting in her ear! We had the set menu and the food was all nice but they brought our wine after the first round of food and nothing was really delicious, to be honest. I would say the food was slightly above average. The door staff were friendly and welcoming but our main waiter didn't really speak or smile. For four of us it cost about £115 including the service charge and one bottle of wine. I think Souk Medina is geared up for tourists really and I wouldn't go there again.
