Windies Cove

This restaurant is one of my favourites, the food is delicious and never disappointing. I have eaten in many different carribean restaurants across London and none of them even come close to Windies Cove. The staff are very friendly and polite its always a pleasure to eat here. I would recommend Windies to anyone that loves West Indian food.

I recently went to Windies Restaurant for a family celebration. I was disappointed from the word go. If you would like to eat authentic West Indian food served by professional staff, do not eat here.
1. The booking was at 7pm and I arrived at 7.20pm - the tables were not set up so we had to wait in the 'private room' for about 15 minutes.
2. The bar man serving drinks downstairs had dirty finger nails.
3. The starters were below standard - salt/cod fish fritters had absolutely no salt/cod fish in them - just pepper, seasoning and batter. The mango dip that accompanied it came straight from the bottle. The chicken skewers were dry in taste and were brought out swimming in sweet chilli sauce.
4. The rice was brought out 25-30 minutes after the meat/fish dishes arrived to our table.
5. The curry mutton had not been cooked that same day - it was simply reheated.
6. All the meat dishes were salty.
7. The basmati rice was brought out uncooked (soggy and grainy). The rice needed at least another 10-15 minutes to steam out.
8. The rice and gungo peas was fresh - no coconut cream, peppers or salt.
9. A party member ordered a soft drink which was watered down.
10. Plantain was ordered but failed to reach our table.
11. Coleslaw was brought to the table after the person who had ordered it finished their meal. To make matters worse the waitress still wanted to serve it!!!
12. The waitresses had very little experience and looked uncomfortable serving us.
13. They ran out of roti and strawberry ice cream despite it being on the menu.
Every party member was horrified by the standard of the food (it was inedible) and will not return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone.
DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!

I had pre-ordered a dinner here and still had to wait 50 minutes to be served. In the end, I asked for the food to be packed so that I could take it away. I won't be wasting my time again.

I was invited to this restaurant for my friends birthday. As you do, I checked out the restaurant just before leaving. Mmmm. I have to say I was a bit apprehensive. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't that bad either and I would definitely go again. The food was good, staff were friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. They must have had a few really bad days. I think on this one you should go for yourself and make up your own mind.

Me and my patner went here on Saturday, and to be fair we cant comment on the food because we didn't get to eat, but we can comment on the service. We Sat down in the waiting area, where we were sitting waiting for about ten minutes which was ok, we were handed the menu's had a look at what was on offer, the food seemed ok, but a bit pricey, i mean come on we are hardly in Mayfair, £1.90 for a can drink, and £2.90 for a patty that is taking the biscuit. We were shown our seats, which were a bit close to a large party who were quite noisy so it was a bit off putting, we were basically just sitting there for another ten minutes not offered a drink or anything, so we just decided to up and leave, cause we didnt want to spend £40 on food we dont even know is nice. The lady up front did seem friendly, but it looked like she was training her son to be a waitor, cause he seemed a bit lost. I don't think i will attempt to come here again, cause they are expensive.

Arrived here on a Friday night, the missus and I thought we would experiment with some local restaurants as there arent many to choose from (south of the river), near Greenwich. Service was great, food was plentiful and tasty, I had the Jerk Chicken and the missus had the most fantasticly grilled suculent snapper fillet ( we had a choice of 6 different hot chilli sauces, from mild to ass kickin, hand stands in the shower stuff) . They had West Indian beer which was great to wash the food down, more types of Rum than Jamaica. The prices were reasonable, would definately come here again. Shame the restaurant is not in the main Greenwich shopping area, they would be much more busier as the food at Windies beats most of the down market crap that is sold in Greenwich. Yeh Man !!

My boyfriend and i first found this restaurant just under a year ago and when arranging a surprise birthday dinner for him there was no doubt where we were going to go. This place is amazing! The best customer service you will ever get in any restaurant in London by Pauline, and the food was divine! The staff (esp the owner) went out of their way to accommodate us and we all had a fabulous time! It was like home away from home! FANTASTIC!

This restaurant was originally called Windies Bistro and despite the change of name there has been no change in the standard of the food. It was awful, the food was bland and was poorly reheated in the microwave and so it went cold within 5 minites. I can only describe this as an inauthentic caribbean restaurant and if you were expecting food to home cooked standard the go eleswhere! Enter at you Peril!
