Al Parco Bar Pizzeria

Making a return visit to Al Parco I found that things had taken a turn for the worse. The once great pizzas no longer are of the same quality as before. They are still good and certainly much better than Pizza Express but have lost something. Maybe this is down to the authentic Turkish chefs!!
As for service all I can say is that it was sloppy. The waitresses seemed to be more interested in discussing their holiday plans with the Turkish chefs and were not in a hurry to take orders, clear glasses away etc.
We decided to leave in the end before desserts as no dessert menus were forthcoming. This was despite sitting near where the chefs / waitresses were having their chit chat.
The sloppiness continued into the bill which omitted a glass of wine and bottle of sparkling water despite the fact the waitress was looking at the empty bottle when processing the payment.
Maybe all this explained why the once packed restaurant was quiet on a Saturday night.
I think we'll stick to La Porchetta near Exmouth Market from now on....

The pizzas here are probably the best in London and certainly as authentic as pizzas I have tried in Roma and (dare I say it) Naples! Word of warning - go there on an empty stomach.
Only thing that let the place down was our bill not adding up and being too high (although this is very Italian as well!). It was however rectified and the waitress(albeit Eastern European) was pleasant enough.

Al Parco Bar Pizzeria, in my opinion is the best place to eat pizza. contains a great atmosphere and great staff, especially the good looking son. Nothing like eating these pizzas outside in good weather, while sipping a glass of proseco.

i can only agree with the positive review. The pizza are top drawer, the only let down is the fact that on occassion if there's lots of business the service is slow. Unsurprising really if you see the amount of preparation space they have. But one fact remains - how can they get their pizza so right when the likes of pizzahut can't? I'd happily wait longer for a decent pizze than eat the kind of minimalist rubbish pizza express bangs out. The wait is no big deal, sitting outside gives the opportunity to watch those who can;t quite afford hampstead proper go about their business

These pizza's are almost exactly like the ones I've eaten in Roma. Cannot fault the food, the staters were also delicious. Its hard to understand why such an excellent eatery is not packed out every night of the week. That said the place itself has its own charm, more of a cafe than a restaurant. While the food is very special, the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Staff are authentically italian and when i went there may have been a little bit of trouble with the language barrier. Service was a little confused too, but nothing went wrong.

Best pizzas this side of Italia - and that's coming from a native!
All the old faves plus loads of adventurous and delicious modern varieties.
Lovely, family-run restaurant, welcoming to all.
Good bar.
Deserts are ace (try the homemade tiramisu')
Great coffees and patisseries - the Portuguese natas are worth travelling here for!
