Mediocrity describes this restaurant. I went there for Valentines, with very high hopes after many excellent reviews and their award winning. Well, after paying the extortionist £29.99 a head, we recieved food that was decent, but not outstanding. The wine selection was very good. The service was polite. The atmosphere hardly romantic. I understand that in central London, places are crowded, and prices high, especially when places get any excuse, like Valentines, to jack up the prices. But if they are going to do that, they could at least make it the best meal possible. I may return for a meal during regular price times, when the set menu is £15, but I doubt it is even worth that, unless the quality is actually better when the price is lower.

Walk into Souk and you are transported straight to north Africa - on a magic carpet. Tiny alcoves conceal intimate tables for two and larger parties can lounge on soft tapestry cusions.

The staff are only to pleased to offer a complimentary rose water champagne cocktail on arrival and will help you choose a feast fit for Aladdin.

Except it is not. Souk falls down on its food - dips and tagines all look worryingly similar in both taste and colour.

I hope Souk's chef reads this. For if the food lived up to the magical atmosphere, Souk would be a fairy tale eaterie.

I came here for my birthday on Saturday and having booked a table in advance, found that my booking requests were met exactly. This is the second time I've been - once on a Friday night and last time on a Saturday. I love the restaurant - it's very cozy and the atmosphere is great. The waiter was very friendly and chatty as was everyone else we dealt with. The food is amazing and very good value for money. Would recommend it to everyone.

Great food and ambience but all spoilt by the incompetent, patronising and downright rude staff. Avoid the toilets at all costs.

Went to Souk Bazaar with a group of friends. The food was good but we were served by the worse waitress ever. She handed us the menu and after we had looked at it informed us that we could only have the set menu anyway. As a non wheat eater I asked for some veggies with the humus but my request was met with such disdain I felt even lower to the floor than I was already sitting. (I did get some eventually). I ordered a vodka and tonic and after waiting 20 minutes I was told that they had run out. The set menu was a reasonable £15 per head but the drinks were very expensive and we ended up paying £27 each. She obviously didn't enjoy waiting on tables especially groups and I would suggest she does something else for a living. They still managed to whack £25 'service' charge on the bill. Loos are authentically Moroccan without meaning to be. Only to be used if you are desperate.

I had booked one of their cosy caves for my birhtday party but when we arrived I was told by the manager that it had been given to somebody else. With no apology and an angry face, he rushed us to some other table which happened to be free in the main seating area, which was not half as nice and comfortable as the cave I had booked.

Fortunately the food was really nice and the waitress who served us was charming, so I didn't let that initial disappointment ruin my evening. However, I wouldn't recommend booking a table there for a special occassion since their booking service doesn't seem to be very efficient.

I have been to the Souk Bazaar a couple of times. Although the staff, mainly the manager, is not very friendly at times, the food is worthy!
