Nice place, friendly staff, and now with leather sofa. Good place to chill out with a bottle of wine. And if you're on a budget, you can just order the starters - they're very generous with their food

I was taken to Banburi by some friends of mine during a weekend in London. We only going to take on fuel and head down to Notting Hill to investigate the licencing law situation. None of us had been here before and the menu looked pretty generic but we were amazed by what turned up. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and beautifully spiced up, the chilli lamb was so good we ordered another and the spicy chicken salad was fantastic, albeit not for the faint hearted. We ended up staying at Banburi most of the evening and staggering home under the weight of our stomachs.

Banburi suffers from its location. It is a clean modern Thai restaurant. Service is ever so polite; you can tell they really want you to enjoy you dining experience. The food is also very good, my Drunken Duck was great, but the few tastes of my friends curry were even better. Starters do have a slight feel of being of the deep fry/microwave variety but that is a small niggle.
The bill for three beers, two starters, two mains, rice and a veg dish was £40 which I thought was pretty good. Unfortunately the place is always empty – I do hope they don’t go under.

I've been in Thailand many times, and I'm adamant that this is real thai food.
The red/green curry is fantastic, creamy and spicy . The pad thai is delicious as well as the starters or the chicken satay.
I only miss the Kow Neuw Mamuang.
They are nice..and thai!
Cheers with a Singha beer and..
Khaap Khun Kha!

We were a group of ten, for a birthday. Nice laid-back service, food was very good (massamam curry really superb), prices reasonable and none of us were disappointed. Bit mysterious as to why it was not crowded, location maybe?

This spacious, bright restaurant is a great venue for a meal with friends or family in north London. The menu branches away from standard English-Thai fayre to offer a wide variety of flavours: banburi duck rolls and ginger lamb are particularly recommended. Staff on our visit were generally helpful and friendly, although a change of cutlery between courses would have been appreciated. But that aside, a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Banburi has a welcoming atmosphere and classy decor, and serves up Thai food that more than lives up to anticipation. Our party of six each tried the others' dishes, as it all looked so good – and there were no disappointments. Highlights included excellent duck rolls and chicken satay starters, delicious green prawn curry and achingly tender lamb massaman curry. A great wine list meant the meal was extremely well accompanied. The only gripe was the service - friendly but slow, despite it being a quiet Tuesday night. Initial drinks took an age to arrive, making us feel like we weren't being looked after, and some starters were finished by the time the last arrived. Banburi has got the really tricky bit right - cooking fantastic Thai food - so it shouldn't be hard to get the easy bit right as well! Nevertheless, the wait was worth it ...

We had heard good things about this place so our expectations were fairly high. Happy to say we weren't disappointed. The food was a wee bit slow coming, despite there not being many customers, but it was worth the wait. The duck rolls with tamarind sauce were deliciously tart, the avacodo and prawn curry had an amazingly deep flavour and the sirloin steak in the weeping tiger tasted just like steak ought to (and so rarely does). Altogether one of the best Thai meals I've ever eaten.
