Tuesday, June 08, 2010 - My sister chose the Scottish fillet steak, which came in juicy pink slices accompanied by spinach, chips and a generous smudge of sweet onion puree. Chips were thick-cut, but as light and crunchy as thick-cut chips could ever be, and they made my sister swoon. Trusting Nadra's experience of four years perfecting his fish cooking, I went for grilled sea bass with buttered courgettes, saffron crab ravioli, basil and bisque sauce. Predictably, it was wonderful, the plump, buttery goodness of the fish and the supple and subtle ravioli proving a deep and lovely combination.

Thursday, April 15, 2010 - Elaborately conceived main courses risk inducing taste bud exhaustion. At the end of the marathon of roast cod with sauteed squid, spicy chorizo, piperade and gremolata plus olive oil mashed potatoes, the recipient's tongue needed to be wrapped in a foil blanket. Roasted rump of lamb with sauteed sweetbreads had only vegetables dancing in attendance and a rosemary jus...In restaurants we are not nourished by food alone. Nadra should direct some of his admirable energy into softening the surroundings and bringing them into line with an easy-to-achieve spend of 55 pounds a head.

Went to Michael Nadra for a saturday lunch.

The place is really beautiful and well laid out with attention to detail. The bathrooms are spotless and with quality soaps etc.

The waistaff are friendly and welcoming especially the Md'H and the american waitress.

The food is excellent. An attractive menu, beautifully executed at reasonable prices. The winelist is well thought out with reasonable mark-ups.

We ordered from the prix fixe menu.Chicken livers-plump and perfectly cooked on a bed of greens for her.A veloute of leek with fried whitebait on some tossed greens for me(served on an oblong plate that kept the items separate).

For mains-a delicious chicken breast with mousseline potatoes for her and fried whitebait with home made tartare sauce and peas and broad beans for me.The fish was beautifully timed and in a very light coating, not really a batter thank God!The peas and broad beans were nice and crunchy and an excellent accompaniment. For dessert ,the pain perdu with yogurt ice cream-yummmy.

High quality bread and butter, and a German riesling on a warm Saturday went very well with everything.

This is an excellent restaurant, manned by people who care about what they do,and setting a very high standard .

Go and try it you won't be disappointed.

Fish Hook has always been my first choice among Chiswick's local restaurants and my birthday meal last week was fantastic. Attentive staff, excellent fresh fish and a beautifully gooey chocolate fondant with a birthday candle to finish. Highly recommended!

Haven't been to Fish Hook for a long time and was quite disappointed on last night's visit.

The starter of tiger prawns with garlic and chilli was very bland, not much garlic or chilli in sight, and although the market fish green curry I ordered for main was nice it was luke warm when it arrived.

I was a party of 3 girls and got the distinct impression that if you weren't in a couple, you weren't at the top of their list. Service was slow although the couples either side of us were attended to quickly. And although the manager was polite and helpful, I found the waiting staff to be surly and dismissive.

Overall disappointing, and I won't be going again any time soon.

Living local to Fish Hook has been a real treat this last year or so and the standard of the food just gets better each time.

With the introduction of the new tasting menu you get every opportunity to try different styles and flavours, all fresh and imaginative. Whilst their specialty naturally is fish (the sea bass and the grey mullet are fantastic) even their meat dishes such as the belly pork really are some of the best Ive eaten.

Would highly recommend this place, the service is always welcoming and the atmosphere always comfortable.

I took my fish loving boyfriend here for his birthday on Friday night. The Service was good from the get go, the candle lit table was romantic and the food was beautiful, I’m not a biggest fish lover but I have to say I really enjoyed the fish soup and the scallops. I would definitely go back for a special occasion.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 - This first dish, wow. Generous black truffle shavings sat atop a large pasta parcel perhaps two-thirds the size of my fist. The soup made from a medley of mushrooms. It had bags of flavour, the aromas hitting my nose were ethereal. Rich...Being that fish was Michael's previous USP, it was only natural we sampled some. Saffron is such a lovely ingredient no? It just adds a kind of cherubic fragrance to a dish, along with the sharp seafood flavour of the crab stuffed ravioli as well as the crab flavoured soup, it formed an alluring combo on the palate.

Sunday, July 26, 2009 - Both Blai and my brother had the Deep fried haddock with peas, broad beans, chips and tartare sauce for their main. This was some beautiful fish and chips! The fresh from the fryer battered fish sat on top of the lightly blanched peas and broad beans, keeping the fish from becoming soggy. The gorgeous chips and tartare sauce were both served on the side, the latter being a mix it yourself pile of mayo and toppings...the whole meal was fantastic value. Only 12.50! For two courses! Service was a bit iffy but overall, it was a good experience.
