I went with a friend to Imli on a Tuesday evening. It was great. I know that the 'Indian Tapas' style of eating is nothing new, but it was refreshing when most of the places I've visited have been the standard "Korma, Madras, Vindaloo" kind of establishment. I probably ate the same amount as I would in other Indian restaurans but because of the way the food is delivered, it didn't seem so daunting.
The food was great - special mention must go to the Cumin Mash and the Aubergine Masala and the service was very good. I will be going back.

terrible! was wandering round soho with friends looking for a curry and thought this one looked quite interesting. unfortunately for us that was all it was! the food was everything an indian meal shouldn't be - bland, artificial, pretentiously small portions at a ridiculous price for the size... and not an indian in sight! was served by a blondie from the eastern block who had not tasted any of the food and could tell me nothing a about it - can't blame her really, i wouldn't taste the food again!

Went along with high expectations - came out really disappointed to be honest, no atmosphere, food is bland and HUGELY overpriced for what you get. I really would stay clear - Wagamamas of curry houses, but id rather go to Wagamamas, sadly.

Ive eaten here on 3 occassions - its consistently average overall.
The service was good on all occassions but the food below par. They use very cheap cuts of meat which devalues the whole meal.

My friend and I are South Indian and we visited Imli last night. It was a terrible experience. We were told that as it's busy we only have 1 hour.Fine. Just before the hour was up the host kept on sending waitresses to our table to clear it up and to ask us if we want the bill. The portions were small and overpriced, the lamb 'South Indian' dish was hardly South Indian-more British Indian. 12.5% service charge added to our bill, we paid 10 and even then I don't know why we bothered. Neither should you.

I would recommend Imli to anyone, having taken a big group of people with diverse tastes and budgets there this week, all of whom came away happy. Service was friendly and very helpful. We had a set menu, highlights of which were the (very tender) Masala grilled chicken with gorgeous fluffy cumin mash and avocado chutney, and the yellow lentils - light and delicately flavoured, not at all like the lumpy heavy dhal you sometimes get. And £15 a head for food made it really good value.

Absolutley awful. Popadoms served with sauces that are clearly straight from a jar. Cremated fritters, bland curries. The worse Indian food I've ever eaten bar none. I've had better ready meals.

Just to say that 'tapas style' Indian food is not a new concept. That's how all Bhelpoori houses (i.e. street food) work although they aren't as clever with their marketing. There are lots of these around London - esp Drummond Street and Wembley

I work nearby this restaurant and absolutely love their lunch menu - it is fresh, light and varied - not the usual heavy curry that sends you to sleep after lunch!. It sounds like a 'fancy' concept but in fact the food is excellent and very original and the sophisticated ambiance just makes it more enjoyable.

I have visited the restaurant a couple of times and have always been pleased with the excellent fresh and original food. The decor has improved recently - although it does need a bit more 'atmosphere'. The only downside was the service - which could be a bit more attentive and discrete. Otherwise I highly recommended it for either romantic 'tete-a-tete' dinners or larger parties.
