My husband, daughter and I went to Mae Ping in Epsom for a meal during the week and enjoyed it tremendously.
The restaurant was very busy, but we were welcomed and the atmosphere was good.
The service was excellent, the food delicious and good value for money. We will definitely be returning

I visited the Mai Ping in Beckenham on Saturday 23 February with my Partner and two others, i have visited this restaurant on many occasions and have always been more than happy with the service, the food and the bill.
The waiters dont hang around waiting to jump on you, but if you look in their direction they are straight over to see if they can assist you in any way. You are not rushed between courses, and the food is beautiful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I will definately be going back in the not so distant future.

My Fiancee and I have just returned from a Saturday evening spent in the Mae Ping restaurant in Beckenham.
I have to say that we found the service to be very disappointing and some of the staff to be very rude.
When we arrived, my first impression was that it seemed very busy and chaotic.
We were shown our table and pretty much left there with no drinks menu and at one stage I wondered if we were going to be served. I then had to get a waiters attention to order some drinks.
My Fiancee, ordered a glass of water and a red wine, but received a glass of Rose and a glass of red wine instead. When she told the waiter of his mistake, he replied that he could not take the rose back, now that it had been served. This forced an angry response and the waiter eventually gave in.
Our order was taken in a very unfriendly manner and subsequent drinks were dumped on the table.
We found the restaurant to be very loud, which maybe was not their fault, but the staff seemed to be very disorganised and complaints were heard from other diners too.
This was a shame as the food was nice, but I don't think we will be going back.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Beckenham. A lovely atmosphere, great food and relaxed service. Despite being a busy Friday night, we didn't feel rushed in any way. I will definitely be returning and trying other branches.

The Beckenham branch of this chain is absolutely superb and ,in my opinion, is the best restaurant in Beckenham. The food is perfection and the staff, whilst not all having the greatest english, are charming and patient. I would particuarly reccomend the lunch where the prices are extremely reasonable.

I often visit the Beckenham Mae Ping, and love it. I have always got a fantastic service and the food is always spot on. The staff are freindly and always ready to help. It is slightly pricey but for the food and service we are happy to pay that little extra

I have been to the Beckenham branch several times, I personally take no particular pleasure in it but my wife loves the place.
To be fair, the food is nice, it is a bit pricey but you do eat well. What I cannot cope with is the female manager working there who has no idea of customer service and is horribly unfriendly. On our last attempt, we walked in, they were quite busy I have to admit, the same woman walked up to us, no "hello", no "smile", we announced we had no reservation and needed a table for two, she simply looked away, no word spoken, and attended to the next person next to us who had a reservation (note she was not any more pleasant to them).
If you do get over this, the waiters are quite nice though...
You will enjoy your food if you don't mind being treated like dirt. It's good but not that good in my opinion.
Stay away!!!

I visited the Beckenham branch at the weekend to celebrate my Birthday. It was way too crowded - with as many covers as possible squeezed into the relatively small space available.
The fact the waiting staff preferred to order by numbers made it feel a bit like a chinese take-away rather than a quality Thai restaurant.
Furthermore our request for some tap water to accompany our wine and soft drinks had te be repeated three times before it was granted!
Other than that the manager of the restaurant took quite an aggressive although humourous stance when it came to settling the bill and we discovered that we had automatically been provided with and billed for 2 sets of the starter platter for 2 when in fact we only wanted and requested 1 together with 1 other starter. After grilling us on why we did not say something when the food was delivered (on a single platter( we explained there was no way o telling whether it was one or two sets of the platter. The managers response was "Ahh, yes. This is smart enough for me!" He then sent the waiter who originally took our order to apologise (almost tearfully). The waiter told us a long story about how he had only arrived in the UK 3 months ago, and his enlgish was not good so he did not understand. He then told us he would pay for our starter from his salary.
We were not happy with this and the restaurant was very busy and could easily have accommodated the error from what must have been a very profitable day.
We questioned the manager on whether the waiters wages would be deducted and he exclaimed quite agrressively that this was notu our concern and could we please leave now!
We gave the waiter who was actually crying by now the £10 which he would apparantly have been charged for his error and left.
Needless to say we won't be going again and we urge others to boycott until they implement some fairer working conditions for their staff!

I had the opportunity to visit Mae Ping East Grinstead over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this restaurant.
There was a great ambience in the restaurant as we walked in and was greeted warmly by the staff. Eventhough the restaurant was heaving at that time (as it was a busy Saturday night) we felt that the service offered to us by the staff was personal and professional. The decoration provided the feel of being transported to Thailand and it exuberated style and Thai culture.
The food was of excellent quality. As I am a fan of Thai food, I always look out for Thai restaurants and this one did not disappoint. The food was every bit authentic and delicious as the food in Thailand itself. For starters, we had the Mae Ping Mixed Hors'd oeurves which comprised of their ever famous chicken satay (tender yet providing distinct flavours), prawn tempura (batter was light and crispy, prawn was fresh), prawn toast (generous layer of prawn paste, unlike most Chinese restaurants) and a few more.
For main course, we had the Crying Tiger (grilled sirloin steak served with a spicy dip). This was done to perfection and the sauce complimented the steak well. We also had the Tamarind King Prawns, which would make your mouth water just by looking at it!
For dessert, we were spoiled for choice with their extensive range of ice creams as well as a few traditional Thai desserts. They even had fried ice cream, which I highly recommend.
The bill came up to around £50-£60 for two, which is absolute value for money.
I would highly recommend this restaurant (They have 6 branches - East Grinstead, Beckenham, Epsom, Wimbledon, Croydon and Clapham Junction) and will definitely return in the near future. We have already booked our next visit after having such a lovely time there! High praises for this restaurant, definitely!
