11p for a knob of butter...and bags see through on one side just in case you try to steal food.....whilst I'm on the subject, 5p for a sachet of brown sauce, that was bad enough when it was H.P. but it's 5p for a sachet of own brand now, penny pinching in the extreme.....the bank must have taught them well.....
The oriental man who used to do the sausage baguettes is a good bloke and does a fine baguette.

Can't believe all you whingers moaning about the food, it's perfectly ok although I'll admit it isn't as cheap as it might be. The bloke who complains about clearing his own tray away takes the biscuit. No pun intended. Now stop reading this drivel and get back to work!

Just say no to Philadelphia cheeze in the mezz at 45p for a knob, it's clearly not subsidised.
Do an ok breakfast when ones had too many chardonnays the previous evening. Lunchtime can be lethal and don't forget to take your tray or risk being escorted off the premises.

Lamb burgers are nice, soups can be ok. The chicken can be tasty. The meal deals are no frills. Every now and again they surprise me with a nice lasagne or cottage pie.
HSBC make enough money for a waitress to come and collect the plates and trays on a trolley from the tables right? - the walk of shame to hand in the trays for cleaning is no fun after stuffing your belly.

The food is truly awful. They serve up slop in buckets and pass it off as a curry. The meat and fish are so dry you could use it to sole your shoes. The salads they seem to mangle into a tasteless swill akin to what you would feed a pig. On the plus side the staff are nice and friendly. Bring in Gordon Ramsay quick!

The best thing is that they search your take out lunch box in case you're smuggling out food without paying. At BOOTS the chemist they let you pay for goods by scanning them yourself and using a credit card.

Atmosphere: None really- If you like grey you'll love it. If you are lucky you might get a window seat and look over a building site.
Service: Staff are nice enough
Food: The canteen seems to cook most food well in advance so you can find a fillet of grilled fish which is so dry you need a few glasses of water just to digest it. The pasta bar is ok but the stir frys use precooked pieces of specially vulcanised chicken. The best choices are the things they buy in e.g. yoghurts
There is a 'Meal deal' which can be ok for <£3 but if a pie is on offer it is to be avoided. There is a general rule - if you can't see what you're eating don't buy it.
On the positive side the sponge puddings are often quite good.

HSBC Canteen provides some reasonable food such as the stir fry bar and sausage baguettes for breakfast. However, the service is not up to standard and the cashiers are particularly rude. There is a lack of healthy options and some of the prices are high considering it should be subsidised. The queues are horrendous. Waitrose offers some similar menu items for less and are usually of a superior standard. (salads, rotisserie chicken and curries for example). The surroundings are also extremely drab and depressing. Bringing visiting guests is not recommended due to the bad service and confusing menu "rules" about salads and garnishes etc.

The previous self-service coffee process was just too efficient, causing staff hyperactivity - leading to profits and general bad press.
Now we join the conga-line to the (single-barista) coffee machine, servicing the 8,000 people that want their breakfast caffeinated.
While you're waiting, you can pass the time watching the constantly jamming toast incineration machine (complete with charred wooden poking stick) and the crowd of staff singing around the campfire that was going to be their breakfast.
Who says the cafe at a bank has to be grey and dull?
