Went for diner on a sunday evening (on the London Marathon day). We went in despite the fact that there was NO other customers. In a nutshell:

-pushy up selling attitude throughout the meal

- dishes on the smallish end of scale but fairly tasty

- weird waiter stayed stationned one table behind us for the whole mean looking out through the window

- waiter could not understand the simple instruction of bringing us some chilly oil, powder or flakes. Instead he brought us some raw chillies. Well it might technically be better for what ever culinary reason but if a customer asks for powder, why argue?

In summary, go there if you are starving otherwise, you get better value from a ready meal from Tesco.

We just had a Xmas lunch there

Great value without compromising on great food and very easy to get to, right by WestFerry DLR station! We will head there more regularly for quality Indian food!

Went to Spice Merchants for the first time with Friends last night. Nice place, good service but food ok. We had three varied dishes but the underlying problem seemed to be flavouring.

Nothing stood out as great with one of the dishes being like a hybrid home-made style.

I have to say however quality of food is good but I prefer the orginal East end places that get the taste correct.

She forgot to mention one very slight negative, the ghoulish ultra-violet light which I found very disturbing. If you dropped your cash on the floor you would quickly be able to identify any fakes!! Saves the cost of a scanner!

However, food was fantastic. Nice to see a Lamb shank in all its glory served in an indian restaurant. Great food and good value for money.

To begin with it's a nice Indian Restaurant to visit.I would suggest you to skip the starters and go straight to the main course if you are a Pure Vegeterian...the food is tasty and ingredients used are of good quality..not forgetting its well presented...there lunch deal seems to be a good one...
