On 30th September 2008 at 9:47pm myself and eight other guests visited an indian restaurant in London's Isle of Dogs called Lime Bar And Restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted well by the manager. As we did not have a table pre-booked we were asked very politely to waited in the lobby while they arranged our table. The lobby had contemporary furniture to match their contemporary layout throughout the restaurant.

While we were waiting I noticed that different areas were colour coded and had different layouts, the lobby had bright orange and lime furniture, the bar had bright lime lights and brown worktops and panels. They had two types of seating areas, one for couples and small groups where they had brown round and square tables with lime leather seats, the other seating area were for larger groups where they had brown square and rectangular tables with black leather seats.

After 5-7minutes we were taken to our table by the waiter and given the drinks menu, we ordered the drinks straight away and within a few minutes he returned with the drinks and the food menu.

He left as to have a look through the menu. The menu was well laid out with contemporary dishes and classic dishes on different pages. We called the waiter when we were all ready to order, he took the starter order followed by the main and then side dishes. I ordered a mixed tandoori platter for starter and lamb shank bhuna with garlic bread for main, I also ordered aloo gobi as a side dish.

Within 15-20 minutes the starter arrived, they were individually served and well presented in different shaped plates. The food was hot and tasted very fresh, the tandoori was very succulent and not over cooked. Straight after the starter we got our main course which was a bit quick, then again we spend a while eating the starter. Again the dishes were well presented in different shaped plates, the food was hot and tasted very fresh. The dishes were of moderate size so I wasn't bloated at the end. As soon as we all finished eating the table was cleared and cleaned straight away.

The waiter returned with the desserts menu, three of us ordered the same which was the molten chocolate indulgence it was warm chocolate truffle with vanilla ice cream on top.

It really was the icing on the cake to finish the night in this beautiful contemporary restaurant. The service was timely and appropriate, the food was 10/10, so not complaints and definitely recommend it to all curry lovers.

Lime restaurant is a fantastic Indian curry house with high quality food and services. I was very delighted with food and presentation. It has just the right spices. I will recommend this restaurant to others.

I was very unhappy with my visit to Lime on Saturday night 29/03/08. I and three friends were shocked that when we arrived the restaurant was empty!! We sat down in the lovely surrounds only to be pestered by several greasy (non-speaking English) waiters, to order drinks this was literally every 2-5mins! One waiter in particular was very aggressive and came over and demanded we order now!!! After waiting a reasonable amount of time while being watched constantly by staff, food arrived the starters was great. Then the main course looked great but both the Lamb and Chicken Tikka Biryani was well presented but cold so didn’t not taste good! After eating we were talking and was again harassed to order more drinks and desert when we refused we were given the bill without asking!!! I found this restaurant nice to look at, but had terrible service which was a shame I will not go back and will recommend anyone not even for takeaway!

Me and sixteen of my colleagues went to lime two days ago for someones leaving do, which I was higly recommended to, and have to say, they had quality food which was absolutely fantastic. The waiting hour wasn’t bad at all compared to previous restaurants.

The service was brilliant, staff working there were very welcoming. Atmosphere and design of the restaurant was very nice too. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.I will be going there sometimes next week again, my colleagues have been nagging me to take them. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Higly recommended

I went to Lime restaurant on monday with my friends after being recommended by a friend and I found this place absolutely the best and most interesting Indian restaurant in London. Great service and well thought out drinking and dining experience. Attention to detail has gone into everything that the restaurant owners have put in place....from the furniture to the music and also the flowers and my feeling is that they will continue to improve.... highly recomended, i will be back - again and again.

I had a lousey time! It was a shame I found the place while I was sober. Mental note, to down 10 pints before going there.

Foodwise, dry, dull and bland. The lamb described on the menu as succulent, was tough as shoe leather. The bhindi was tasty as eating cut up cardboard.

I won't be recommending this to my friend's and there are far better indian restaurants a short taxi ride away, on commercial road.

To me, Lime Bar & Restaurant is the best Indian restaurant in East London. It is totally different. It has great atmosphere and excellent design. I have not seen any restaurant that looks similar to Lime. The staff are very friendly and the food is very fresh and absolutely delicious. I will be visiting this restaurant very often.

I dined at this restaurant on Saturday night. It was half full (busier than i expected given its location. The food was very pleasant. The spices and flavourings in the meats and vegetables were relatively mild - not overdone, and not oily. My only compliant was that I would have liked more pieces of chicken in the main disk - the breast meat was relatively sparse.

This place is fantastic. It might be tricky to find, but it's worth the search. Firstly, the staff are very friendly and really seem proud of their restaurant (as they should be!).

The food is excellent. I had eaten a week before at the Cinnamon Club, and this was easily as good in terms of quality and interest. I had a special of king prawns, which were tender and delicious. Sides are a good size, and not too over spiced, although to the right amount. My husband's madras was excellent.

Naans were soft and just the right level of oily. Even the puddings were great - ice cream type things, exactly what you want.

It isn't a "curry house" but a really nice, well designed restaurant. It really deserves to do well in terms of staff and food, and we will be visiting again very soon.

Prices - mains vary up to a top price of about £13 (but there are plenty below this), so good value.

Really excellent and a good addition to the endless tedious chains that spring up round Docklands all the time.
