your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

I can only comment on the downstairs restaurant ,the Picasso room having been booked up for the next month. I found this to be wonderful and affordable French restaurant with excellent food/wine menu and polite helpful staff.

You seldom find a starter of snails actually served in the shell. Meaty, delicious and no not obliterated in the usual cornucopia of greasy garlic butter. Large, beautifully cooked diver caught scallops to follow.

An impressive 3 course meal for 2 with wine came to just over £100 and was worthy of twice as much!

Had dinner in the Picasso Room recently. The food here is continually excellent, not our first visit, even with a change in chef. My wife and I agree with others here about Matthew, the sommelier. I am usually wary of sommeliers but not this one. The most approachable in London and dare I say, the best. We will be back.

Hi

My wife and I visited after theatre on 7th Feb. We found the downstairs room to be very bright and not an intimate setting. Service was very good and the food was of the standard you would expect from a top resturant, however it did not set it self apart from others despite having a Michelen Star.

We had booked in for 11 pm straight after the show, and I had previously enquired by email,if we would have enough time to dine before the resturant closed. We found ourselves the only diners left and we felt pressurised into paying the bill and leaving as the waiters were simply hovering, clearly waiting for us to leave.

To sum up,good, but not brilliant .

Went here to celebrate my girlfriends 30th up stairs in the Picasso Room in November, great food, exceptional service, huge wine list and lovely atmosphere made for a great night.

Thouroughly reccomended if you're looking for something special and don't really fancy the 3 month advance booking routine that you'd get at Claridges or Petrus at this time of year.

The downstairs is less formal and also looked like a great night out (loads of recognisable art on the walls, a little more noisy with the guests chatting), upstairs was a little more formal but you do get the extra attention that's worth paying for.

3 courses + 2 amuse bouche and wine for two, £120.00, great value!

My partner took me to this restaurant last week for my birthday after seeing a show. The food was divine and very fairly priced, the service excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. We wouldn't hesitate to return again. Thank you for a lovely experience

We went for a meal at the Picasso Room on Friday evening and the food was very good and certainly up to standard for this Michelin-starred restaurant. But agree with the previous reviewer about the gem of a sommelier who made the evening for us by going out of his way to share the enthusiasm he obviously had for his job - a rare treat!

Took hubby for his birthday last night - had ordered a table in the Picasso Room. It was a real treat. Food was delicious. Service excellent and the sommelier was a star. We were even treated to a glass of Sauternes each with pudding as a birthday present. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. How lovely to be treated so wonderfully. Highly recommend.

we arrived at the restaurant about 10mins before 6, we walked into the restaurant encountered a member of staff who we informed us that we had a reservation & were told " we open at 6, you can wait out by the door" hmmmm not a good start.

we went for an aperitif somewhere nearby.

when we returned we were greeted with a little more courtesy.

Service was efficient but cold & clinical. Food was ok but not brilliant, their was no wow factor normally associated with a restaurant of this level although petit fours were very good. A starter of escargot was ok, shrimp cocktail was dull & poorly presented. main course of lamb was flavoursome but the half ton of kale on the plate was poorly cooked & seasoned, Liver was ok, mash was good.

desserts were ok. Lemon tart was as good as most but nothing memorable. cheesecake was the same. The dessert wine served with the tart tasted like it had oxidised, it was unpleasant anyhow. my bringing this to the head waiters attention earned me a sniff of the wine & a patronising comment. I know the wine wasn't corked. but it wasn't right.

all in all dissapointing meal after a trip to London. Going to Locando Locatelli next week, hope thats better. won't go back :-(
