Mangal Ocakbasi

Just had the best kebab ever, with that taste of meat and this was more first time coming to this place, its going to be the only place to eat kebab. I have been to many turkish restaurants but the taste were not that good, but mangal ocakbasi restaurant knows this business as i have lead to my researches this restaurant is been there for 20 years with same owners, and there are famous people eats there to as its in their website. I prefer everyone to go there, the service is not that good but they are busy all the time finally economically their prices are quite low with the meat they are using i guess.

If you come in expecting a flashy upmarket Turkish restaurant with freshly bleached White tablecloths , you will be disappointed.

This restaurant is a no-frills family run Turkish diner down a side road off the busy Kingsland High Street. One of the better Turkish diners at that.

In terms of food, you wont go hungry, they serve you family sized portions :) and there is ample Turkish bread at no extra cost. The salad is fresh and piled high on a plate for you. We also ordered the mixed meze and it was a sufficient amount for 3 people. In terms of the main course, im a bit mixed about it. Don't get me wrong but the quality was good but it just felt like in terms of the amount of grilled meat you get compared to the huge pile of salad and bread it felt a bit lacking. Nevertheless we walked out with satisfied and full tummys.

The service was as you'd expect - warm, personable. There was a bit of a wait for a table (even though there were clearly a few tables available for us) however this was down to lack of staff I believe.

The bill was fantastic for what you get.

Definitely a recommended restaurant from me.
