I recently went here for a meal with two friends. Although admittedly the decor is dour and the service is anything but outstanding, the food is surprisingly very good. The meat is generally fresh and as the restaurant has a large turnover food is fresh to the taste.

I wouldn’t really recommend this restaurant for a intimate dinner for two, but if you’re looking for a great tasting reasonably priced Indian and don’t mind the forgoing a few of life’s luxuries, I would definitely give this place a look in. Grills are best!!!

3 of us went for a meal here after work. The floor was sticky. The plates were filthy. The supposedly clean glasses were covered in finger prints and were the type that you can buy from your local pound shop at the rate of 10 for £1. When we asked for clean glasses, they were replaced with ones that had finger prints on both the insides and outsides of the glasses.

My friend ordered a Mango Juice. He asked "Do you use fresh mangos?" to which the answer was "yes totally fresh." The result was he got a child sized glass of rubicon mango juice straight from the carton.

The complimentary salad consisted of low quality lettuce and cucumber. The mint sauce was found to have a long black hair in it. The replacement sauce looked suspiciously like the one we had sent back but less the hair. paper napkins... again looked the ones you get from the pound shop.

Food arrived fairly quick. Was average. When we asked for the bill we got a piece of paper back with the total written on it by hand. No individual break down of the bill! No way of knowing if we had been over charged. Im suprised that this place gets any business at all. Certainly never going back.

I think the people that gave Mirch Masala bad reviews must have been in the wrong restaurant. It is by far the best curry place in London!

I lived in the area for 2 years and went to Mirch about once a week. Never once did I have a bad meal or bad service - it was consistently exceptional. The staff were amazing, the most polite and accommodating that I know.

The food is simply delicious - not greasy or artificial. You actually feel good after eating it.

Granted the place isn't exactly the ritz, but who needs the ritz when you have mirch! The prices are pretty good too. And it's BYO which always helps.

I've moved to brighton now and I only wish there was a place as good as MM there which there sadly isn't.

If you're looking for bland creamy curries, served in restaurant where the prices and decor are "reasssuringly expensive" then Mirch is not for you.

Ever wondered why the restaurants in Brick Lane are full of caucasian English people. Thats because all the Indians, Bangladeshi's and Pakistanis are eating at Mirch!

Having travelled extensively in India, I can tell you the food here is as good as anything you will find on the subcontinent. I recommend to all my firends that this is the best Indian you will get in London.

On top of this the prices are very reasonable. Granted though the decor is very cheap. I didn't have a problem with the service. Though I guess if you are expecting michelin star waiters, you probably won't find them here.

Also unlike most Brick Lane restaurants, they don't give you a free Cobra beer. Instead they give you the ability to bring your own wine or beer in, a much more valuable concession.

Has to be the worst indian dining experience ever, how this place gets consistantly good reviews is beyond me.

And as for customer service I would be surprised if any member of staff was actually aware of what it was. The waiting staff were rude and failed to get the order right. Certainly would never recommend this unless you enjoy paying for poor quality food and appalling service.

What an absolute let down and this place came VERY highly recommended. Having spent three years living in Bradford I am well versed in Asian cuisine, and would rate the food on offer as 'passable'. The service, meanwhile, was downright rude. How can anyone who had obviously so little interest in providing a 'customer service' work in a 'customer environment' is beyond me. I use the word 'restaurant' in its liberalist sense too. More like a fast food outlet with bright lights, plastic and formica galore.

London has far better options than this, far better.

Mirch Masala is fantastic. I live up the road and its better than anything on Brick Lane. I'd eat their food every night if I didnt have a girlfriend who cooks and yells at me for the amout of Mirch Masala I eat.

On par with Tayyabs for grills and curries...probably slightly better choice.

Service and fast and not in your face, the dishes come quickly and are always plentiful, full of flavour and so morerish. Once you start, you'll always be coming back for more.

Simply great food at student prices that people just keep coming back for. Don't tell your mates...lets keep this gem hidden for as long as possible!

This place is phenomenal. I live just up the road and am a frequent visitor, especially for takeaway, which somehow they can do in 15 minutes, every time. They are very charming and are happy to round down the bill, things like that, without asking.

The food and prices are the big draw here, though. The curries are maybe the best I've had in the UK (and I've had a few), whilst the grills easily match those at Tayyab just up the road (the curries there are less good than at Mirch M). I have made people who profess to have no appetite eat lots just by getting some MM curry, bringing it back and opening it up... I always over-order just to have leftovers...! Mmmmm...

and as for value - five of us stuffed ourselves and had some left over for £40 the other day (takeaway).

It's brilliant!
