This is probably the friendlies restaurant I have ever been to. My Aunt lives just up the road and it has long been her "local". The staff are very attentive and greet everyone as though they are old mates. The food is delicious and clearly home-made. Always enquire about their specials of the day and try and speak to the "boss" who is always very keen to please.

Nice nibbles beforehand are generously topped up (cover charge of £1.00 covers this) and delicious mints with coffees.

Lovely place for a relaxed meal!

We love it here, the staff are fantastic, the food delicious and the atmosphere wonderful. It is a cosy old fashioned Italian. You should always ask the owner what he thinks is best dish on the menu the day you go. I have never been disappointed.

I lived by Ana Capri for about 12 months before venturing in -- I have been going back for 5 years. This is very much a neighborhood place, people who eat there live or work nearby, and they pack it out. It is my wife's favorite London restaurant. The owner knows all the regulars, often by name. It is a relaxed place, not a super chi-chi eatery.

It's important to know that there are a lot of Italian restaurant standards on the menu; Ana Capri is in central London and there are things that diners expect. The food tends toward northern Italian too. If you want to get what is really good, make sure to ask the owner for his recommendations (including wind) -- he will discretely steer you away from the things he thinks are off that day, or they things that are not really appropriate to their cooking style; he does not necessarily push the expensive. They are very generous with the crudites etc.

Try the veal, especially on a good day the veal chop, or the steaks. And remember, in any London restaurant fish is best on Friday and usually not good on Monday and Tuesday -- and that is just the way it is.

I have been to this restaurant on a number of occassions and evey one has been enjoyable. The food is good though not amazing but it reasonably priced as well. The crudites, garlic bread, breadsticks and olives flow continually until your ordered food arrives and are included in the £1 cover charge.

The service and family relaxed atmosphere is great. We went one valentines day and the staff were all in a great mood despite the tables being very tightly crammed in. We took my mother in law for her 82nd birthday and they brought her out a cake and everyone sung which she loved.

All in all a very relaxed and comfortable restaurant where you are treated like family and can relax and enjoy your meal.

My girlfriend and I visited Anacapri on Saturday night. Whereas I will agree that the service was good and the staff very friendly and accomodating, the food was absolutely abysmal.

We were also sat at a very cramped table - in fact, all the tables are badly arranged so that you have very little space. We did ask to move and the waiter found us a better table, but still quite cramped.

We started with the olives, bread and carrots / celery on the table. These were ok but nothing special (the vegetables were rather old). For mains I had mushroom rissotto and my girlfriend had spaghetti carbonara. I was quite suprised how bad the rissotto was. Watery and lacking in flavour, this was one of the worst meals out I have ever had.

We had a bottle of house red which had been corked, so no delight there either!

All in all a pretty bad experience.

Whilst the food at Anacapri seems to be unexceptional, the service is very slick. Afficionado's of Italian dining out will recognise the sensation familiar in the lower end of the heartier, tourist-focused Italian restaurants where the waiters are so practised they see customers as blobs at table numbers. You might go through the entire meal without making any eye contact. Instead of attentive service, this restaurant keeps its customers happy by the smooth operation, the plentiful, bread, crudites and olives, iced jugs of tap water on request and mints at the end.

The boss is fun and runs the operation with clear command. Whilst the waiters are a mostly a cynical, hard bitten bunch it's enjoyable just to watch the whole thing work. The staff probably whip up an atmosphere in the evening. There were two large tables booked on the Friday lunchtime that I went. It's probably good for office and hen parties.

To it's credit Anacapri's is one of those few establishment mercifully free (at least at lunchtime) of piped music. The decor is traditional Italian, verging on the kitsch.

Pastas were uninspiring. There is spaghetti with ragu, but besides that the pasta is either penne, spaghetti, or tagliatelle with either a tomato or a cream sauce with nothing very exciting added. But my lasagne arrived quickly and it was piping hot. Portions are friendly. Six or seven pounds for a pasta plus a pound per person cover charge, plus service.

Went here last week with the in-laws and had an extremely pleasant experience. Food was standard italian fayre, nicely done, but nothing stunning. I had the ravioli and the veal and both were enjoyable. Wine list was fine, we had good, well-priced white and red.

The service and atmosphere were both great. It seemed like a good family-type Italian restaurant - friendly and efficient waiting staff, lots of extras (crudites, bread, garlic bread, olives etc.). They even brought the wife and me an extra glass of red wine (at no extra charge) to drink while we were waiting for the olds to finish their white.

All in all, just a really nice evening out. I will go again.

When we are in London we can hardly wait to return to Anacapri. Whether a frequent patron or a first timer, you'll be greeted with warmth, hospitality, and good food. We'll often see others, like ourselves, returning time and time again.
