We don't like telling the world about this restaurant because we wanted to keep it as our special secret....but it seems as though the world has found out anyway and we are not suprised !!

The best freshly prepared beautiful food. The lovliest wine and the most fabulous

atmosphere and the most welcoming and generous of hosts, Hakim !

Have been going here for lunch and dinner for a couple of years and have NEVER tired of the menu or the company long may they continue !!

once you step into the doors of mogador on portobello road you know your at home.

hakim will welcome you with the warmest of morroccan hospitality you can imagine and that's just the start.

. all dishes are carefully selected home cooked, the athmosphere is just lovely and its interior perfect for a first date. the airy background music reminds you of an alladins' cave visiting the buddha bar lounge and food is exeptional reasonable priced for the area and you are guaranteed to come back for more.

thumbs up!

This is truly a wonderful treasure. We have been back several times and it never disappoints. Everything is incredibly tasty but special mention must surely go to the Sardine starter dish - even my 10 year old loves it. Still on the fish theme, don't miss out on the sea bass...whatever they do to it, I hope it never changes. The service is wonderful if a tad slow, but I think that reflects on how freshly made the food is. And just the right prices too!

A group of six of us went to Mogador early on New Year's Eve (partly because of the the reviews on this site), and we were certainly not disappointed. The food was indeed extremely tasty, well-cooked and nicely presented, and the gentleman serving us was friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations, even throwing in a free starter of sardines just because no-one had ordered them and he really wanted us to try them! Excellent value, too: six two-course meals, two bottles of wine and a beer came to £90, or just £15 each. Highly recommended.

The food is wonderful, I had the slow roasted lamb for a main which was easily enough for two, succulent, tender and delicious. All dishes were delicately spiced and seasoned. One of the best value for money meals i have had in london and definitely the best Moroccan. The service was both attentive and professional. Nice location too.

Ignore the somewhgat drab exterior; inside it's comfortable & friendly.

3 of us tried a variety of dishes including the well-recommended Aubergine with cumin (very good); prawn chermoula had juicy prawns, their flavour nicely accentuated by the spices; fatayer with harissa is a light pancake with a mild pepper filling and another aubergine dip the name of which I've forgotten.

This was followed by excellent lamb brochettes, delicious chicken tagine with olives & preserved lemons and bastilla.

The latter is a pie made from minced chicken, egg, almonds & flavourings in a light crispy pastry then dusted with cinnamon & icing sugar. It may sound odd but it tastes very good.

Moroccan spiced coffee followed and the bill for the lot including mainly soft drinks came to £48 - £16 each.

This is how a restaurant should be - quality food, friendly, comfortable interior, no pretensions.

Great place.

This amazing local Moroccan restaurant is a real find. The food is delicious, the service friendly and welcoming and it is incredible value for money. The aubergine and cumin starter is the tastiest thing I've tasted for a very long time, and the lamb and olive tagine is melt in the mouth. Mogador is an oasis of high-quality, good value eating in an area that can often be over-priced and below par. Highly highly recommended.
