Food was not good - too rough and ready and lacked finesse. Sauces tasted like they came out of jars from Wing Yip supermarket.

The restaurant is small which made the environment feel cramped and pokey.

Worst of all was the service. The charmless manager got my order wrong despite my clearly asking him about the dish when I made the order. We did not receive an apology and only received glares from the staff as if the waiting staff could never make a mistake.

Horrendous.

Lovely local restaurant, food is fab, people there are friendly, I will be the regular there as I just moved in that area.

The crispy lamb salad is the super dish, I like to recommend to everyone...

I feel compelled to write after reading the other reviews. I've eaten there a number of times over the last 3 years and I went there strictly because i was working in the area and Maida Vale really is quite bad for eating out. The express menu isn't badly priced but overall there is a price hike thanks to the post code. My abiding memory of Street Hawker is the excessive oiliness of the noodle dishes. After about 15 minutes you get that post junk food sludge feeling. The Lamb curry is reasonable and the Peking Duck I once had was actually quite good. But generally the food is ready a bit too fast and although it's popular enough it's no way near the value for money you'd find along Kingsland Rd, for example. Service is distinctly neutral.

I love this place. Period. The owner is fab, the duck wraps are phenom, the spring rolls are crunchy-yum-a-licious and the green curry is ooh-lah-lah.

I am SO picky, too. But the food is consistently one of the best Asian restaurants in the city. The prices are competitve and the Express menu (which has anything you'd want, all afternoon) is the best.

Skip out of Chinatown and just eat here.
