Went here by chance on Friday night after some drinks at the Abingdon, and it was a pleasant find. Very different in the restaurant than the bar, the restaurant is very light and Mediterranean looking. I took the set menu with 2 choices for each course as the 50% offer wasn't on yet - but it was still decent value at £17 for 2 courses. I had the jerusalem artichoke soup to start which was very nice, fresh and creamy. For main course I had chorizo, with light crunchy potatoes and a fried egg. I liked the nice touch of the wine bucket being attached to the table - so the wine stayed crisp and cold but the waiting staff were always quick to top up. I think this is a great find in Kensington and will return - maybe next time with a group as it would be fun to try all the tapas and the big round tables looked inviting!

My girlfriend and I have now been to L four times and each time both the food and service have been fantastic! The restaurant looks small from the front but opens into a beautifully modern atrium with a choice of "cozy" or "see and be seen" tables. The menu offers a great variety of more traditional favorites and more adventurous flavor combinations that have never failed to please. I would particularly recommend the lobster which was absolutely heavenly! Oh, and don't forget the Guinness for desert (I know it doesn't sound right...but trust me, it is!) Finally, the service is absolutely fantastic. We've been treated like family every time we've walked through the door!

I went to L Restaurant and Bar the other evening, and left wondering why I had not stopped in on this eatery before. The combination of clever lighting and earthy colours emanated an inviting glow – modern yet unpretentious. The menu was imaginative without being overbearing. I had the foie gras with fried duck’s egg – very tasty, and the crispy edge of the egg white was a nice touch. The grilled steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the fries… The FRIES! Just the right size such that the outside was lightly crisp, the inside fluffy, and sufficiently chunky for a hearty chomp. We couldn’t stop ourselves having more and more and more! The squid ink risotto with lobster was delightful. The rice was obviously cooked in a seafood broth that had been reduced to taste of Essence of Sea. Like little pieces of buried treasure, there were baby squid mixed in with it. Dessert was heaven. The light cheesecake was accompanied by a blueberry concoction that I had never tasted before. It was cold, but not creamy like ice-cream, nor bitty like granite or sorbet – it was just simply fantastic! The chocolate fondant was surprisingly fluffy (egg white?) and suspiciously devoid of flour (Atkins-friendly) – the eruption of the viscous chocolate filling never fails to please.
I will definitely be coming here again.

Alright I have to admit the atmosphere is incredible the service is very good, and the tapas menu was great. But whatever you do don't order the Mozabique Prawn, it was positively horrifying (presentation and taste were awful)

We ate at L on a relatively quiet Tuesday evening. The food was great, the atmosphere excellent and the staff faultless! Altogether exactly what the experience of dining in a restaurant ought to be.

I could eat here every day and not get tired - the cooking is light and fresh and delicious. Tapas is outstanding!
The wine list although small is chosen with care to match the food and is reasonable compared to most other restaurants of this class in London.

I have now been to L four times, and not once have I had an unremarkable meal. But last night's has to take the cake. The new tapas menu is fresh, original, subtle, and downright tasty. I had the foie gras with duck egg, the courgette flower tempura, crispy squid, morcilla, and salted cod salad. All delicious. Finished off with the rib eye steak with sides of Judion beans and ?Prason peppers (can't quite remember the name of these exquisite peppers). Simply excellent. Adding to the whole experience is the lovely setting with lovely earthy colours, great big skylight and cosy bar area. Staff were perfect. Highly recommended.
