I visited this restuarant with an important business contact last weekend. In fairness I did not pre book having read their website which did not insist on prebooking. I was offered a table very close to a group who were enjoying a birthday party and as I thought it would cramp them and me, I asked for another table. I was told there were no other tables and I decided to go to another restaurant. I was then called back and given a table of my choice ( not ideal but it had to do). Conditions were then put to me to vaccate by 9pm which I refused and they let me carry on. I was literally pushed to make an order and when I asked the waiter why he was in such a hurry. He backed off for a while but both me and my business colleague were not comfortable but did not wanted to create a scene. Not a minute went by when the waiters would empty out our bottles and suggest a further drinks order or food order. We were continously interrupted during our conversation.
The meal could have been better if we were not hurried along and that would have added to the evening being memorable.
In the end I did not see a rush that deemed the waiters to hurry us necessary.
If you are taking friends to have a chat and spend some time then avoid this place, maybe they have enough custom and they feel that it is important for us to empty our wallet before they give us any value.

Hi
Really good food and pleasant waiters - only hitch is you cannot get tap water just bottled water at £2.50 which is not too big. Made a comment on this to management. Heating not adequate for cold weather - had the meal wearing my winter jacket!

Papa J's is just the best in town. Yes OK I accept the comment that when you walk in the ambience is more that of a sports bar than a restaurant but that soon passes and actually I think its quite deliberate. There is no need to dress up or put on a show this is strictly a place for friends. It is probably the most relaxing restaurant I have ever been to.
The staff are friendly. The service is excellent. The food is amazing. I have eaten in many asian restaurants and this one is so far out in front I don't expect to find a better one. Being someone who likes to try a little bit of everything I particularly enjoy their tapas style starters especially the ponir cheese which is to die for.
But for me the absolutely best thing is that they do not hurry you. This is not a fast food restaurant this is a place to enjoy a social meal with friends taking as long as you like. I am sick to death of going out to eat and feeling like they want rid of me before I have even started.
And what's more it does not cost the earth, excellent food at a reasonable price.
Onwards and upwards Papa J do not lose that special something.

Hi
I visited the restaurant in Luton recently after having heard great reviews from our friends. I am from india and if you want authentic Indian food, THIS is the place to go. In all my 10 years in U.K, have I ever experienced such high quality food.
They have a huge selection of vegetarian starters and main courses and their nan breads are the softest you can ever find. Don't expect too much from the ambience, but the service is very polite, prompt and couteous and the food to die for!!
waht r u waiting for, make a trip there and u will not be disapponted!!

Hi,
I would like to say the comeent prior to this from a lady called Meena from Neasden certainly does not verify in my opinion.
She obviously wants the razzmataz and ambience fo the Ritz hotel yet she will only frequent in an establishment such as papa j's which has the quality and a menu to outshine any other establishment in london.
Meena, Let me tell you something, i challenge you a free dinner on my expense.
Infact i am taking one of my dear friends who is indian and i will post my friends comments on here.

What is the fuss about?
We went here last saturday and we were really dissappointed.
The interior looked like a grotty canteen. No atmoshere, no air -con the place was so dull.
There was hardly any choice for veggie starters.
When I ordered my main i was told sorry, its takes too long to cook and there aren't enough chefs available.
They didnt even serve a mango lassi?! I definately won't be wasting my money or time here again - even if you paid me.

Hi once again!!!!
I was at this restaurant again last week, Again i could only repeat my enthusiasm of the establishment.
It continues to be by far the best eaterie in Luton, It has tradition, it continues to strive on quality, this is second to none.
The Manager Nilu again enforcing on his waiting staff the service of proffesionalism and attention.
Please do not be scared to eat the finest food in Luton.
Kind regards to ALL

We have visited the Luton site many times and were among the first patrons of this establishment. We have spent many enjoyable evenings. The food is superb and the portions are generous. Recommendations include the lamb chops, King Prawns and Mango Lassi. Pre-book as it has become increasingly popular or visit Harrow. This is a bigger site.
