A very poor meal which I told the restaurant. Hardly any sauce with the starters and most of the meal was tasteless. I've never had such insipid Thai food. It just didn't taste right. A real shame as the situation by the river with lots of tables outside. Very very expensive, in fact a complete rip off and the waiters kept filling our glasses with wine even when we asked them to slow down. Do not waste your money. Such a lovely situation deserves a decent restaurant.

oh my god this has totally been ruined since Blue Elephant took over, such a shame as it was such a beautiful restuarant with such delicious food when it was being run by it's previus owners now that Blue Elephant has taken over it has completely lost it's charm. The food is awful the prices are high. AVOID it do not go there. It is so life/soul less these days.

I love this restuarant. It's simply magnificent from the moment you walk in. From the impressive floral displays and attentive staff to the fantastic dishes and ambience!

The interior of this restaurant is beautiful - they have gone to enormous lengths to make this feel like a little part of Asia in London. Has a wonderful riverside location where you can eat and drink al fresco.
Portions are small and quality a little inconsistent, but generally good if not a little over priced in relation to quality and quantity. The waiting staff are poor - they come across very inexperienced and often leave you waiting long periods without checking - they do however always smile and are very friendly.
Overall it is average - but has HUGE potential with a little more focus!

Wow what a restaurant, from the atmosphere to the grand designs.
Lets start with the food where do I begin... everything on the menu was just so delicious, had the mixed starter this way i got to taste most of the startes on the menu, it was so good we decided to order another one. For the mains we had the coconut rice with chu-chi prawns and musaman curry oh boy talk about explosions of taste in my mouth.... yes people it was that good. It is the best thai meal i used to often go to patara or to blue elephant for my thai fix but i have found one that tops them all. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Had cocktails before dinner and must say the mojitos were to die for I have had many mojitos in London from the top clubs to top restaurants but must say SR mojitos have been the best so far.
I would recommend you to go there and try the food as they have something for everyone.
I would highly recommend the Irish coffee, I know what you thinking Irish coffee in a Thai restaurant!! But trust me it is so worth it not only for the taste but the show one gets to see in the preparation of it.
forgot to mention the Tuk Tuk service they provide which picks you up from the Stn oh that just added to the whole experience.
Over all I think this restaurant offers the best Thai experience in this part of the world!!!

Firstly, I have to say the decoration of Saran Rom is absolutely fantastic, very traditional with a comforting feel. I recently booked for a party of 39 for my company Christmas party. The whole of the first floor was reserved for us with complimentary Red and White wine.
The service was second to none. Every one of my guests were welcomed at the door, and escorted to the area which was reserved. Our coats and bags were taken and we were each seated by the friendly staff.
We were welcomed by the manager which felt very comforting. The food was very tasty and extremely well presented. The deserts were delicious from a menu that catered to all.
We had a very enjoyable time and I for one will definately be attending Saran Rom again.

I found Saran Rom to be an absolutely amazing restaurant. The service from the moment we walked through the door was brilliant. As we entered we were greeted at the door by a very friendly waitress dressed in a traditional Thai outfit. She took our coats and bags in exchange for a token. We were then taken to the bar area where we ordered drinks and were given a starter menu. We were then approached by a very helpful manager who clearly explained one or two of the dishes to my wife, who is a vegitarian. We were taken to our table, which had an amazing seafront view, on the first floor.
The starters were extremely well presented and very delicious. I felt assistance was always at hand with the very helpfull waiters and waitresses not too far away. Our main Courses were mouth watering. I must say the presentation of the food, as a whole, was brilliant with some outstanding decorative vegetables. I found the beef to be slightly rich but was well complimented by the sauce.
The deserts were again well presented and extremely nice.
Overall the service was outstanding with very friendly staff.
The Restaurant decoration is amazing with fantastic waterfront views.
Mainly the food is impeccable with brilliant presentation.
I strongly recommend it.

After my last, very negative, review I contacted the manager of Saran Rom to complain. After watching the CCTV recording of our meal, she was thoroughly appalled at her staff's behaviour and made a full apology to us.
We were invited back and the difference was amazing. Our waiter, Greg, deserves a special mention. He had a good knowledge of the menu and was very friendly and efficient.
This time the food was consisitently good. In particular the crispy fish with mango sauce stood out. The Irish coffee is definitely worth getting at the end of the meal, if only to see the spectacle of how it is made!
It appears this restaurant is usually excellent and it is a shame that the staff were not properly behaved on our first visit. However, it seems the managers have taken steps to make sure this will not happen again.
I am glad to say that I can now thoroughly recommend Saran Rom as a very good place to eat.

I have never experienced such terrible service in a restaurant before!
From the moment we walked in (two hours before closing) we felt rushed. The head waitress was obviously annoyed when we hadn't decided our orders two minutes after sitting down.
Halfway through my meal one waitress dropped the serving cutlery over me. Then she tried to use it again even though it had fallen on the floor!
At the end of our mains we were given the dessert menus and then, immediately, they were snatched out of our hands. The bill was brought and slammed down on the table with a snappy "We're Closed" at closing time on the dot.
The staff are so rude and I was appalled that we had to pay 12.5% service.
The food was variable on the whole. The steamed sea bass was lovely as was the mixed starter plate. The beef panang was very disappointing. It was dry as a bone and we couldn't finish it.
The whole meal cost £110. What a terrible waste of money. I recommend that, if you are in the area, you go to Deep or Memsaab instead.

From start to finish I would have to say that our experience at Saran Rom was a little bizarre. We arrived expecting from other reviews a romantic palace but found a very large multi-levelled restaurant, which, though fitted with expensive decor, had the slight feeling of a hotel about it. We sat on a perfectly nice table on the first floor and the restaurant appeared to be about one third full (this was a Friday night). Now one of the things I love most about thai restaurants are the slightly pink, crunchy prawn crackers that are served at the start of a meal. So when I asked the waitress for some I was slightly bemused when she looked very surprised and said they did not serve them here. Oh well, so we had nothing to nibble on, so it was on to the starters. The duck rolls were ok but my girlfriend found a very large lump of fat in hers. The fish cakes were fine. For mains the Thai green curry was ok and the sirloin beef slightly disappointing - it was basically slightly fatty beef with a thick layer of spicy sauce. What made the eating experience slightly bizarre was the service. Now I like attentive service as much as the next person but at Saran Rom it was actually difficult to serve myself at any point. Waitresses would rush over if they saw me make a movement to my rice bowl and wrestle it from my hands as they dished it up onto my plate. Even at the end of the meal when it was quite clear that my girlfriend had finished her curry they tried quite insistently to pour more rice onto her plate! The waitresses also seemed to struggle with speaking English even though they were admittedly smiley and friendly. At the end of the meal, bearing in mind that Imperial Wharf was about as alive as the duck in my spring roll, we asked the waitress to call us a cab for Fulham Broadway. This seemed to cause all sorts of confusion but within ten minutes we were hurried into a complimentary tuk tuk to take us to Fulham Broadway. A very nice gesture I have to say and being sped back was one of the highlights of the evening! Overall I do think the Saran Rom has promise. The problem is that it is in such an out of the way location that even with fun tuk tuks they need to markedly improve if they are to lure people away from the usual west london haunts. The food, though not too expensive, is not good enough, and the service, though friendly, is far too clumsy. As for the decor, well they have clearly made an effort but the Blue Elephant and the Sugar Hut are much more romantic venues for a thai meal.
