Stick & Bowl

We eat here quite regularly. It's very much a cafe type as opposed to restaurant. But that's one of it's attractions. Good basic south east asian food, not overpriced, served quickly. The waitresses speak lots of different dialects of Chinese and you'll notice lots of se asian people eating there.

One tip if the menu is confusing or you want something different from normal (which is pretty small anyway) is to order what you see other people eating.

Not good for large groups and more about individual plate meals as opposed to the communal dining of traditional Chinese restaurants. Of course you could still confer on the dishes you are all getting and still share. They do provide bowls on request to make this easier.

Their Crispy Belly Pork Rice is very good as is the Soya Sauce Chicken Rice although they might seem a little basic to western palates. NB: ask for the gravy on the side.

I discovered Stick and Bowl last year. The restaurant is small and you can't be sure to get a seat everytime, sometimes you have to queue, or seat near someone else as it is more a noodle bar than a big restaurant. The food is great, I'm always having the chicken fried noodles, they're excellent! Portions are big by the way! It only cost around £5 for a portion of noodles or rice. The other dishes vary around £3 or £4 ( for a soup for example) up to £6 or £7 (for duck or prawns).

Service is alright, but don't expect them to smile all the time. It's getting better when they start to know you if you come often, but otherwise they can sometimes be a bit "cold".

You can also take the food away, you only wait around 10 min for your food to be ready. I very recommend this place!

Stick and Bowl is a delicious friendly establishment conveniently located near Hyde park. I love this place I went there once and ordered a water and the guy behind the counter told me to walk next store and get water there because its cheeper.... great service. get the spicy chicken with no vegetables.... brilliant.

The "Stick" is not a real Restaurant . Its a noodle bar type place. If they are real busy eat quick and go ! Its not a lounge. Staff are not rude...they just do not fuss in fact they once let me eat with a GF after they had shut and cleaned up. We ate what they had cooked for themselves

Its London's most famous Chinese

It also doubles on Weekends as the " Un Official " Filipina Embassy !!

Go, eat and leave .... relax if its real quiet... But if busy they need to turn over customers at their prices.

i'd just like to say this eatery is marvelous one of the finest dinning experiences ive ever encountered this side of mexico city ive travelled far and wide looking for a better experience always to fall short of this magic .i can only say to you small people who havent had the pleasure you have yet to live. major!!!!!!!!!!!!!! major major thanks for taking the time to read this review till next time lots of love xx

I went to this restaurant many times but I have to say that the staffs are rude.They shouted at me and very rude.The price and the food is nice but I don;t think I can bare the rudeness anymore.

Been going here for 12 years now- it looks like nothing much but the food is absolutely rocking and such great value. Very sociable too. Wish i still lived in the area as I miss this being my local!

Went there after finding it on this site. Looked a bit 'iffy' when I drove passed (for some reason I was expecting a restaurant rather than a cafe - my fault not theirs!)but wasn't disappointed when I got in. It was a Sunday afternoon, the food was fantastic value for money, place is nice and clean. Will definitely go back - very welcoming, friendly to kids, service great food wonderful - all freshly cooked. Will definitely go back.

I'm a London cabbie and I was introduced to the Stick and Bowl about ten years ago. I found the food so tasty and the atmosphere friendly that I soon became a regular eater, dropping in at least once a week for a meal ever since. The staff and other customers are always friendly the layout of high stools and benches facing other diners being condusive to friendly enquiries about each others meals. It's a great place for a meal break when ouit shopping or pre cinema or after a visit to the Albert Hall being located as it is at the Hyde Park end of Kensington High Street. Great food, surely the best noodle bar in London.
