Grilled meats, plentiful starters, tasty pizza and more. One can not make a stop at “The Hill”.

Rich menu and friendly staff, very family atmosphere in a refined and elegant ambience.

I encourage all tourists and not only, to take a break and please the palate, starting from starters, always fresh and original, until the sweet, a true must!

Just one risk: not ever getting up from the table!

The Hill is by far our favorite restaurant and we returned this week as a party of 8. I always enjoy the menu which is varied and enriched by a different special menu every week. The service I particularly like as it's friendly, informed and not at all fussy. The wine list offers some great wines at reasonable prices. The space is great, being refined and well lit. The acoustics are good and as a table of 8, we maintained cross table conversation with no difficulty. Price wise, I don't think you can knock it. We paid around 30 £ per head and had a proper feast (starter, main, desert and wine). Frankly, I'd rather have a meal of this quality at this price than a couple of mediocre ones at half. I highly recommend The Hill.

surprised to see a 5.2.. slightly harsh..

my one main gripe was the chips.. they said 'homemade' and they were £3.20 so i was expecting thick cut potato chips.. what arrived were clearly frozen chips..

steak was gorgeous.. pepper sauce was lovely.. wife enjoyed her pizza.. the service was very good as well..

staff were very pleasant.. although.. we arrived in when it was quiet and were plonked directly beside another couple.. so the thinking there baffled me a little bit..

think it was a little overpriced for what you get.. to charge these prices there cant be anything wrong whatsoever..

possibly the reason they're currently on a 5.2

We went to The Hill last Saturday after a visit to the cinema and wished we hadn't bothered! Although the restaurant had confirmed our online booking by text, when we arrived there, no-one seemed to know who we were. After hanging about for 10 minutes, we were finally shown to our table. We ordered drinks which took another 10 minutes to arrive (our waitress had forgotten about us!) but they came accompanied by warm garlic bread and rather nice chilli oil so things seemed to be looking up.

I ordered the Pimavera pizza which was described on the menu as "tomato, mozzarella, rocket & parma ham". What it should have said was "rocket, rocket, more rocket with a few bits of ham chucked on top". It looked as if someone had opened a bag of salad and tipped the whole lot over my pizza. The base was dry and sadly lacking in mozzarella. The parma ham was nice though. My husband opted for the monkfish with mustard mash which he said was truly horrible. The mash was unforgivably lumpy and the fish tough.

We decided to skip dessert and ordered coffee. My Americano came with no milk and it took us a while to grab the attention of a waitress to request some. This was plonked on the table in a dirty jug!

Needless to say, we won't be going back!

We went to The Hill for Sunday lunch having read rave reviews in local rags. We sat outside in their lovely patio garden and the service was excellent. The food however did not quite meet the standards we had expected. Our biggest gripe was the bread. A restaurant charging these sort of prices has no excuse for poor bread. We expected high quality, if not homemade, but disappointingly we were given something you would buy straight off the shelf at a cheap supermarket (I imagine) i.e. thin, flimsy and tasteless. The meal was slightly redeemed by the seafood salad I started with, delicious, and my husband had the avocado gratin, equally delicious. I then had the coq au vin, beautifully presented and very tasty, but far, far too big a portion for me; almost an entire bird! He had their signature sea bass ravioli, heavily recommended in the reviews but unfortunately possibly the blandest ravioli ever. We never have to add salt when eating out but in this instance we had to, and it still didn't make much difference. A real shame. If we do go back we'll go for dinner and try their steak, as I believe The Hill has been set up by the Buenos Aires Blackheath chap, where the meat is excellent. Maybe they should stick to what they know?

Hadn't been for over 18 months and, in its previous incarnation, had thought it over-rated. Also hadn't been too keen on its new menu - who needs more pizza?! - but was persuaded to spend a chunk of a summer afternoon in the garden.

Food was great and with Sunday specials in almost ludicrously big portions. The seabass in a tempura-like batter served on rocket and peanut butter (!) was fabulous. (I'm grateful to the waiter who pointed out that a side with my seabass was really unnecessary.) Wines were good and reasonably priced, the Adnams well kept and the service attentive and knowledgable without being in-your-face. Got to say I thought it great and the garden lovely.

And I may even go back to try their pizzas which looked really rather good...

Family lunch on Sunday. Started well and rapidly went down hill. Wine list now v boring, no English wine since the take over.

A pizza had virtually no mozzarella and a ludicrous amount of rocket- most of which had to be taken off- then piled on the olive dish, they could do with a trip to Pizza Express to see how it should be done.

A fillet steak- great meat cooked medium rare, as ordered was covered in a quite revolting sauce- meant to be pepper sauce- looked and tasted like gravy with peppercorns. A trip to Gaucho might help them see how it should be done.

The wild boar ragu was well received.

The service was slow, the staff spoke little English- mustard was a concept that even the Irish waiter found almost impossible to grasp.

V disappointing visit, won't be going back.

The Hill in Greenwich has fantastic food and a great atmosphere. We went there for Christmas party and they were extremely hospitable. Would recommend for any occasion.

I went to The Hill for my work Christmas Party in 2010 and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The service and food were both excellent and a good time was had by all of my colleagues. There was a relaxed and jolly atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.

I will certainly be returning to The Hill with my friends in the near future.
