Went to Lahore One after about 6 months - the Karahi Chicken was again to die for - how do they do it??

I have lived in the East End for a couple of years now, and there is a vast selection of places where you can find good curry (mainly Pakistani and Bengali) to suit all budgets.

I have tried most places in the area, and Lahore One is quite simply the best place there is if you're after freshly cooked, authentic Pakistani cuisine in unpretentious surroundings at reasonable prices.

The menu is small when compared with, say, Mirch Masala up the road. What they do though, they do well. I would especially recommend the Karahi Lamb and the Paneer Chilli.

There is one small negative - don't order a Biryani, it will be just microwaved rice with lumps of meat.. I've always been baffled as to why the effort is not made with this dish as it is with others, but once you know to avoid it, the rest is simply sensational.

I have been using this place since 1976 and the food has never been bland or un-enticing. I live in Norfolk and still travel down quite often. The staff are friendly and it beats any Indian restaurant by miles, catering for the unimaginative English palate. Im back there later today - with friends who happily think the same - I think I speak from experience.

This is not a restaurant but a kebab house. The kind of place you go at three o'clock in the morning after having a few too many beers.

The food was largely un-enticing and bland. Even the garlic naan had a strange spicy taste instead of garlic.

They do not serve alcohol; this is a bring-your-own beer establishment.

I will not be going here again. We wasn’t supposed to be here in the first place, but someone made a mistake when booking a table - easily done as there are about 5 Lahore Kebab Houses in this area. So be careful.
