I have eaten at Eleven Abingdon Road frequently, and have recommended this restaurant to friends, who have also much enjoyed dining here.

In my view the cooking is consistently good and has flair - not only every meal I have eaten here, but every course, has been a pleasure. I think I know fairly well every credible restaurant in Kensington, in all but the top price bracket (the latter being US lawyer / investment banker territory with an edgy ambience - nothing but deals boasted about over dinner...), so I feel that it is worth my commending this restaurant given that I so often prefer it for a special night out over its many rivals.

Often I am torn between three of four of the starters, all of which I know will much please me. One could easily pay at least twice the price for a meal in several hyped venues in Mayfair for food which would be no finer and which would probably be less consistent in quality. The cocktails are excellent - they mix a mean margarita!

The tables are generously spaced, so one is not troubled by neighbours.

I also rate the service highly - the waiters genuinely want their customers to enjoy their visit, and aim for the highest standards.

All in all I disagree other assessments on your site, and warmly recommend Eleven Abingdon Road.

This was my favourite restaurant close to my flat since I moved to London. But we had a terrible experience when we invited 2 friends on a saturday night to get to know this lovely place. It took ages for the meal to be served and it came cold and very salty. The waiter who used to be very friendly was disappointing in his behaviours. Defnetly not a place that we will come back. It's a shame!

Went on a saturday night and was pretty much full. Food is perfectly good if uninspiring. Be warned though, the clientele is almost exclusively over 40s, which makes some of us slightly younger ones feel a tad out of place. Interior is very plain and lacks any atmospehere, making for an upmarket Pizza Express. Special mention to the friendly and attentive waiter.

Booked and went for dinner on a Thursday when most restaurants should be almost too busy to be able to accept a late booking. Plenty of spare tables. Which is a shame because the food was really perfectly good and the wine list was more than adequate. If it could be busier, and we felt it needed to be, it would gain in ambience. Clean, verging towards minimilastic, decoration. Attentive service. Excellent roast rump of lamb and monkfish. Puddings not quite as good as they should be but this was a minor criticism. Would certainly return. Deserves to be much busier.

This relatively new restaurant near High St Ken tube received good reviews in both the Independent and the Times, so we had to try it. The room is modern and nicely lit, with ample space between tables. It was almost full on the Friday night we went. The menu is Modern European with fairly simple yet fresh combinations, although nothing too avant garde. We both had the squid/chorizo/chick pea entrée which was overly salted, but otherwise fine. Not as attention-grabbing as you tend to expect starters to be in restaurants of this calibre. The mains though were superb – Moroccan-style cod with harissa and mussels was perfectly textured and full flavoured. Duck breast on polenta/spinach/onions was rare with robust flavour and texture. Sides were green beans (touch overcooked), mixed leaf salad (overly salted) – being picky here. Desserts were very well judged – lemon/almond/polenta slice with apple and vanilla icecream was delicately balanced. Quasi-creme caramel/amaretto/poached pear was also excellent. Service was efficient and friendly. Bill was £37/person, including coffee and service (no wine). Good value and highly recommended.

Nice location off the dire Kensington High St.and a terrific English Maitre d'h,who made us feel very welcome and was extremely knowledgeable about every dish on the menu! The food is ambitious, and the fish dishes in particular live up to expectations. The meat dishes are poor-either because of sourcing or lack of expertise in execution-the lamb shank should be slow-cooked and falling-off-the-bone tender- NOT STRINGY &TOUGH!Alas duck was also a close relation to chewing gum.Forget the desserts-a bought cake from Maison Blanc up the road is miles better.
