King of Kings

Having Grown up in and around the area of East Ham, Kings of Kings has always been the hub of my Friday nights and beyond. Ever since i was a mere youngster i always remember the fantastic chicken chinese style and egg fried rice wrapped in foil on the kitchen side. I remember the unforgettable distinct taste and flavour that still to this day almost 20 years on is still to be beaten. Yeah yeah i've been to all the flash restaurants and yeah yeah i've eaten all round the world but hey, you just can't beat a bit of traditional family cooking. The food is always fresh and hot and the portions are always substantial and in my opinion, great value for money. The staff are friendly, well presented and the atmosphere is always relaxed. No it's not the Ritz but who cares. Isn't life about trying different things. Its clean and tidy and the decor is simply satisfying. The menu has a great selection. Ribs, Noodles, Prawns, Rice and Duck. It's all here and nothing i have ever eaten wouldn't have me going back for more. Sadly i moved away from the area quite a few years back but guess what!, even though its 20 miles away i still find myself creeping back and funny enough i'm just off there now. Like i said give it a try you won't be disappointed........

This is an average Chinese restaurant and they will accomodate any special requests (even if not on the menu). There are better Chinese restaurants in the West End, but if you want something local this is the best in the area.

And as for take-aways it is the best in the area.

Service and staff are excellent.

The food is well priced.... there is parking in nearby streets.

I think they do a buffett on Sunday, which I recall being good (but check that they still do it..)

I have been going to this restaurant for years and years ... Although it is very basic, decor and service wise, the food is lovely. Its similar to take away standard but its delish and its very cheap. I know the manager and he is a friendly chap. Must haves are the plain bbq ribs and the chips are absolutely awesome .. The king prawns in batter are cooked to perfection. If its a busy night expect to wait for your food. Its cool in a dodgy east end chinese kinda way, but well worth a visit ... If youre looking for a bit more up marktet try the Iching on barking road, canning town end. And also for china town it has to be the golden dragon or (for something extra special) yauatcha in berwick street. The little cakes are awesome .. You gotta take my word for all this as my boyfriends a chinese chef haha

Having been to nearly all the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, we thought we'd try somewhere closer to home (10 mins away to be precise).

King of Kings seats about 30 people. The waiting staff (all two of them!) are very friendly and accomodating, the toilets are clean, though the decor is rather basic (but hey we're not exactly in Mayfair!)

All our dishes were lovely with our favourite being the Shredded Beef, nice and crispy as is should be. The portions could have been a little more generous but I prefer quality over quantity any day. The price was good (a reflection on the portions I guess) so it may be worth ordering that extra dish to feel truly satisfied!

All in all, it was a pleasant experience and we have since made two return visits.
