Gotico Ristorante

If "Kitchen Nightmares" is looking for a new restaurant to rehabilitate, then I'd like to nominate Gotico Ristorante. To give you an idea of what to expect, when I ordered duck breast in cherry sauce what I got was an overdone duck breast with 5 cherries on an empty white plate. The chocolate "gateau" I ordered for dessert was completely stale on one side (It must have been cut days before), although to the waitress' credit she did bring me a fresher piece of cake when I complained. However, imagine my surprise when I found the exact same chocolate celebration cake on sale at the Somerfield 5 minutes down the road. They're not even trying really!

This restaurant is always empty ,now any way you look at it this is never a good sign, i thought i would buck the trend and try it for myself to see if the people voting with their feet were wrong, but i can confirm they were right. I recall a time when this place was busy yet it has not changed ownership, has the food standard dwindled? if it dwindled any more KFC would be on par with other great restaurants in a 5 mile area like Hartleys in Abridge, best meal i,ve had this year! Well back to Gotico, the bread for my start i would not feed to pigeons, the steak would not have looked out of place on spitting image as a prop and guess what i did,nt chance the desert as i felt my life was already in danger. All in all vote with your feet like the masses have already, drive past and at best there will be 2 new lambs to the slaughter sitting inside thinking "i,m not coming here again!" i note Eduardo the waiter posts here in desperation to "talk up" this place, now that should ring alarm bells!

This is my favourite italian restaurant,the food and value always excellent, and the wine selection is very good. Serving staff were fantastic, smart efficient and discrete.

Went to this reastraunt for the first time on Saturday night. This was a 'first date situation' so you can only prey that evertyhing works out fine. I did not need to worry, the atmosphere, food and service were just perfect. Just a perfect first date................

I had a extremely pleasurable evening at the Gotico on the 19 August 2006.

It was a family event and booked a table for 20 people.

I was very pleased not only with the excellent food but the attentive staff. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion and suggest you try the Fillet Rosini.

Recently i visited this restaurant. we had 40 people, and it was for a fiends 40th. The decor was brilliant. the food was beatiful. And the music gave it a really nice atmosphere. I recomend this restaurant highly

Booked a table for a large family meal that was a special ocassion - our experience in this restaurant was awful. Food was OK when you actually received a meal - half the people were finished their meals whilst others were still waiting for their meals to be served. Also, several meals were cold & of inferior quality.

On complaining we were greeted by a rude & unapologetic manager.

A party of 20 of us ate here last Saturday night for a special family reunion. The service was awful, some of us had finished our meals whilst others were still waiting for their meals to be served. Several of the meals were served cold and of poor quality.

The manager was unapologetic and rude.

Quite simply one of the worst restaurants I have been too!!

Unfortunately I am unable to recommend this restaurant. Last Saturday we had a family reunion of 20 people coming from various parts of the UK and also South Africa. The service, although friendly, was very poor, with long waits for the starter and then the main course. A few of the starters were wrong. Side dishes appeared about 15 minutes after the main course was served, my sister in law’s main course arrived ½ hour after her husbands, some of the food was cold and some of the pasta was hard, suggesting that it had been heated up again. Free wine was offered, but this was rejected, as it does not really compensate. Money was taken of the bill after a hard and much too long discussion – the bill for which we had to wait over ¼ hour, was not even itemized, but at this point we were anxious to leave. And last not least the manager, who confessed that he was Spanish blamed his Italian staff – nice. I could go on into more detail, but I believe that this will do.
