Spice of Life

After working outdoors all day on a cold and snowy Monday, we felt in need of a curry, so toddled off to our local, the Spice of Life. Moody, the owner is in the process of updating the menu and we both felt compelled to try the new set meal as it sounded so delicious. It's a bit pricier than the normal set meal dishes, but was worth every penny! We started with king prawn puree and I can honestly say that this was the best I've ever tried. A generous serving of king prawns, wrapped in a tangy sauce on a dinky little puree. The larger prawns seemed to marry better with the robust sauce than the smaller ones normally served in this dish - very yummy!
Next, we were served lamb shanks which just melted in the mouth. They were subtly spiced, with a hint of a chilli kick and came with a vegetable pilau. As we thought two portions of rice would be a bit much for us, Moody suggested that we swap one for a naan and two vegetables which was perfect. Delicious as it was, we both struggled to finish this dish as the portions were so generous.
With a couple of pints of Cobra each to wash our meal down, we both left the restaurant very happy customers. Thanks Moody, we'll be back soon!

We have been going to the Spice of Life for many years now and it continues to provide the best Indian food in London. We have tried a lot of other Indian restaurants but none seem to compare to the authentic taste at the Spice, nor the hospitality of Moody the owner.
Moody is always refreshing the menu and introducing different dishes, encouraging you to expand your Indian culinary horizons. The food is always brilliantly cooked, from the poppadoms to the vindaloos, right through to every vegetable dish that is served.
To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable indeed.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, it ticks every box you could ever want when looking for a quality Indian restaurant.

My wife and I have been going to the Spice of Life for many years and on Thursday we arranged for 18 of our friends to meet at the Spice. I callled Moody, the owner, in advance and he suggested we take advantage of their "Feast" menu which is £10 per person for a starter, main dish, vegetables and bread (Sun to Thursday).
The evening was a great success with fast and efficient service and excellent food at a very reasonable price.
I highly recommend the Spice of Life--best curry restaurant in London.

I've been going to the Spice of Life since 1990, when I moved away from the area I missed it. Excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly host. Food is very good and well presented. I particularly like the chutneys and relishes with the pappadoms!

Spice of life is celebrating 25 years of business at the moment, and it’s doing some excellent special menus to celebrate - we went last week - what a treat. I first went to Spice of life back in 1987 when it first openned, and I have been going ever since. The foods great quality, reasonably price, and Moody the owner is terrific host. You also get specials, and things on the menu that you just doing get anywhere else. You won’t find a better Indian restaurant than this one.

Having lived around the corner for years The Spice of life always looked busy so thought it was time to give it a try.
It was saturday so we had to book in advance. We had a lovely warm welcome and was shown to a cosy table for two in the window.
The service was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was terrific and the food was the best Indian food I have ever tasted.
I would travel miles to eat here again.
