Simply an excellent local Indian. As per other reviews, the service is very good and sincerely welcoming, the seasonal and ever-changing vegetable side dishes the highlight of an extensive menu. If you can get a table it's certainly worth the diversion from Blackheath.

We went with the family for dinner and everyone loved it! My sister lives down the road and they go regularly and have had a fantasic meal everytime. The food was fresh, tasty and well priced. This is the best Indian in the area including Blackheath. Highly recommended!!

We moved into the area just short of 3 years ago, and have been going/ordering regularly since.
They don't deliver - my only gripe - but if they did, they'd never keep up with demand!
We're about to move again, about 3 miles away, and will almost definitely continue to use this as our normal curry house!

Best Indian Restuarant that I've ever been to - and like most I've been to a few. Fantastic fresh tasting Indian food with great vegetable side dishes that change regularly. Also does a nice drop of wine just in case you don't fancy a lager!

I have been a regular at 'The Spice' for over 10 years and in that time have only disapointed by the fact that I haven't always been able to get a table! The food is always fresh and not too oily or fatty, the spinach dishes in particular are awesome.

I used to live around the corner from The Spice of Life, and quickly became a regular. Their food is amazing; probably the best Indian I've ever had. The service is second to none. I'll be back in England briefly this summer and I'm definitely making a stop here.

I first visited this restaurant about seven years ago when a friend had a flat in Lewisham. I lived outside London at the time, but this place was so good I promised myself I would return one day. By happy chance, I now share a house just around the corner. Wasn't sure if it would still be up to the same standard (things can change quickly, after all) but having road-tested it with a housemate (who used to manage a restaurant, for what it's worth) I can report that my first impressions have been reconfirmed. The Spice of Life offers excellent service, a decent wine list and a relaxing atmosphere. Most importantly, the food is way, way above average and the diverse menu contains numerous reasons for a return visit.

I've been going here for years. like 15+ years. its excellent. its not your high end indian posh restaurant. but its great food, freshly prepared, great service and great flavours. in short outstanding. don't be put off by the exterior its a great place. if your looking for a way above average indian, with great service and super value this is it.

The Spice of Life is the best Indian restuarant that I have ever been to (and have since been back and back for the last year and a half!). The variety of dishes are excellent (and you can also get your favourite Chicken Dopiaza etc). The curries are not covered in oil, full of flavour and whilst not cheap, you certainly pay for what you get. This is the hidden gem in SE London, so don't go, leave the tables for us!
