I've just recently started to frequent this place again after about a year and I always recall that the ambience and food were always nice, however we came for Sunday Lunch yesterday and was severely disappointed with the service. Firstly I was not given a Childrens Menu, just spoken at about the choices...rather quickly, so in effect I had to ask 3 times. No crayons or colouring paper was given for my daughter, which is usually the norm. There was a hair in our marinated olives, which when I told them, they did not take the comment too well. No tomato sauce was given to us. My Eggs Royale which was meant to have spinach did not and when I commented on it, the waiter spoke at me (not to me) and said that it did not come with it, but advised me in such a way, it made me feel uncomfortable. My husand was looking forward to his steak, but he was let down when that appeared.I wanted to write an email to express how I felt, however when I just called now to ask if they had a website or email address, I was told to just google them...surely they should have that information to hand or be bothered to find out for me, obviously not. I do expect a certain level of service from an eatery of this calibre and price, however it does not match up to a lot of the places I have been to.

I went here for a meal with a large party which sometimes makes things hard for a restaurant who is not capable of preparing for that....But I was impressed great food, staff were very friendly, 1 barman forgot my drink so when I said something They were very poligetic and it was got right away. I had the chicken in lemon and rosemary which was excellent, my girlfriend had salmon which again was excellent. Not 1 complaint about the food or wine or staff. I definetly would come back.

Service was very friendly. We were told they have new mangement. Atmosphere was relaxing and cosy with log fire. Food was slighly overpriced but still good. I will be going back there to try other dishes.

This is a very, very disappointing place. Careful not to spill your overpriced wine on one of their wobbly tables. The management will not see fit to top you up, even if you are a regular customer. I have been going for years and always though it over-priced, but kept going because it was local. Now I feel insulted and won't go again.

Not a place I will return to. On a friday night it was half-full with a rugby game showing in the bar area. No real atmosphere or crowds - yet strangely it seemed to take a while to get drinks. Nonetheless the waiters were friendly and pleasant.
My intial order was very unsatisfactory. The waiter asked if I would like something else instead and when I reluctantly said that I would, he brought me a replacement. I found that the bill bore not just the replacement, but also the item which was returned. When I questioned this, I was told that I had eaten a sufficient amount to warrant being charged for both!! I did protest - but obviously that is their policy - but there are much nicer places in this area to have to eat here again.

This restaurant is diappoint personified, it needs to be a little bit busier to create the ambience for such a large space, the service is slow considering the number of people generally in the restaurnat and the food is usually a little disppointing.
In particular on several occaions we have been there the chocolate brownies have been burnt, the fries have been "twice fried" making them very bown and crunchy, and the mini-sliders (selection of 3-little burgers) were incredibly salty.
On top of this its far from a cheap eat with 3-courses and a bottle of house wine coming in at around £80 for a couple.
Unfortunately its really the only restaurant in the area so as long as they keep sticking 20% off vouchers through the door we will keep "giving it another chance"

Excellent food, well prepared and quickly served. Tables were a little cramped together but otherwise there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very attentive.
- Do take notice of the 'Extras' section on the menu. Main meals don't really come with vegetables so you may want to order more!

The people behind the grill here know how to char a piece of meat beautifully. The skin on my 16-spice chicken come delicately crisped and blackened, the flesh inside was beautifully moist. And my steak - from Donald Russell - was perfectly medium rare and tender. It practically didn't need the bourbon sauce that came with it, it was so delicious on its own. Desserts - like the chocolate brownie with ice-cream - are a tad too sweet for my taste but provide the American-dream sugar load they promise. And I'm addicted to the corn bread and unsalted butter basket now. It's a shame because the rye bread that comes with it is good. It's just that the corn bread is SO good. I also had the buttermilk pancakes with bacon and eggs and all three ingredients were cooked with the same exquisite balance of tender inside and crisp outside. They could go a little easier on the maple syrup though. Coffee is good and the crumbly, buttery shortbread that accompanied mine was warm out of the oven.
Service is helpful, polite and prompt - maybe only slightly less so at the peak of Sunday brunch - and they cooed over my baby daughter. Such an excellent place for brunch!

Food is excellent, and the bar area is good. Shame about the wally plasma screens, but I suppose you can't have everything. Staff seem friendly.
