This is the best Indian restaurant! We LOVE IT!!! We have dined at Nutmeg on several occasions, being treated like kings!! Perhaps this was due to the seclusion within the restaurant, and the food we had was marvellous! They even were willing to replace an entire meal as we found it too spicey for our taste - this was even using the discount offer! Although we didn't experience the wide variety of dishes they had to offer the meals we did try were of an incredibly high standard - melt in your mouth delicous!! We were devastated to hear Nutmeg has been shut, open again soon please!

I completely disagree with the negative reviews. The food is delicious and so tasty. Chingri Puri is delicious!

However, they haven't been open for about 2 months. Does anyone know if they have closed down?? Apparently they were originally closed for refurb but nothing seems to be going on when I have peeked through the window!

We went on the 50% offer having been to this restaurant on two previous occasions and paid the usual a la carte prices. We will not be returning again. Our first experience at Nutmeg was overwhelmingly positive, food was interesting and a good quality of ingredients used.

Our second visit was completely different with both food and service below par. The special offer seemed like a good opportunity to give it another try....

A truly awful experience, the waiter checked with us which 'offer' we had booked. My starter arrived, the prawns in the puri had been cut into tiny pieces as if to disguise the meagre amount - a fact confirmed when a neighbouring tables starter arrived and was presented completely differently(with whole prawns). Our main courses were stone cold, the waiter returned it to us without charm or apology, it was obviously microwaved....

A NOTE TO THE OWNERS- If you offer concessionary deals they have to be honest and true as they are there to showcase your restaurant and build custom. Your have three people on service (in a small space) yet service is slow and inattentive.

Truly one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in London. The food is bland. Not good enough to warrant the higher prices that this place charges compared with your standard tandoori restaurant, but not dreadful.

The real problem with this place is the service. They really don't have a clue. It was a slow Tuesday night when I went, and the restaurant was probably half-full. But it still took them nearly two hours from the moment we ordered till the food arrived. Two hours. I could have gone to Tesco's, bought the ingredients, and cooked the meal myself in that time. When the food eventually came, it came in sort of haphazard waves, so that the main dish came five minutes before the rice so that it was cold by the time everything arrived.

It's the sort of restaurant that makes you feel like you've been robbed when you come to pay the bill.

I simply cannot see how restaurants like these can claim any form or type of so called authentic or even indian food credibility.

The food is tasteless, served lukewarm to cold and above everything else not freshly prepared.everything served to me was either microwaved (pillow rice) or reheated in oven or frying pan

You could achieve far better taste from a supermarket ready meal at fraction of cost

I will go as far as to say that i donot think this restaurant even has a full time in house cook or chef

The service was poor and staff attitude was even worse

We were a party of 15 couples and yet we didnot have a dedicated waiter or server

Went here on Monday night based on recommendations below. We were one of only two parties in the restaurant and this was a bit worrying to start (after having trouble finding the place in not the greatest part of Pimlico!).

The meal was excellent....all members of the party agreed and this showed in the amount of food that was consumed. So much so in fact that for once beers took a very distant second place!

Also the service was friendly. Highly recommend.

I find it hard to believe such glowing reviews of Nutmeg having had such a disappointing and awful experience there last night. When I arrived with a friend, they had no record of my reservation despite the fact that I had made it two weeks previously. The reggae (??) music in the restaurant was so loud we had to ask them to turn it down so that we could hear each other speak. We were only the second table of diners in the restaurant and yet the service was so slow that it took them 3 hours to serve us just 2 courses.

My starter of vegetable samosas was so deep fried and hard that I was worried to cut into them in case they shot off the plate. Tasteless as well. My friend ordered the meat thali dish for a main course which didn't look too bad on the menu but when it arrived (about 10 minutes before my dish arrived) she found it rather lacklustre. I ordered the "sizzling" chicken rezala which arrived (eventually) without any "sizzling" whatsoever. It was supposed to be "chicken, peppers, onion and tomato in a lime and coriander dressing". Well there was no dressing to speak of, one tomato cut in half, burnt peppers, overdone, tough chicken and a surplus of onions (but of course, they are the cheapest ingredient). The naan bread served with the dish was tepid and soggy. My friend left most of her thali dish. We had to wait an age for anyone to clear our plates on both courses.

Nobody came and asked how our food was at any stage of the meal, or if we wanted more drinks. We had to constantly try and catch the waiter's eye for any remote form of service.

The only reason I picked Nutmeg was because my friend had arrived on a long haul flight that day and was in town for one night. So she asked me to find an Indian restaurant close to her hotel. Considering the other marvellous Indian restaurants in the surrounding area - I so wish I had gone a little further afield. All I can say to the diners who appear to love this restaurant is that you have been eating the lowest standard of Indian food and experiencing very poor service.

The interior is simple, but stylish and during our visit on a friday evening service was both warm and fast, making us feel most welcome. Food was mostly delicious, not quite traditional Indian but with some cross-kitchen ideas in it as we noticed having the grilled lamb chops and salmon as starters. We sampled the mild end of the menu that tends to suit us better and were happy with the results. The tomato-based curry was simply fabulous and lemon rice interesting. Only the somewhat watery raitha was a bit dissappointing. The portions were beautiful and large. We found that Indian Cobra beer was at least as good as the more usual Kingfisher. With the 50% off the food bill -deal the place is a real bargain and would not be too bad even with the regular prices.

We arrived for dinner at Nutmeg last night. Food was fine and we were met with some of the best service we could have expected.

They ordered a cab for us at the end of the evening - when it didn't show, they arranged for a courtesy cab to drop us off free of charge. That was a really nice touch (and we gave the driver a nice tip!).

It was a very enjoyable evening!
