Myself and two of my friends went to london for the day for my birthday on the 28th of January 2012, we enjoy Italian food so decided to have lunch in Amalfi.
The food was amazing, I especially like the low calorie choice of offer. I had the backed salmon and it was lovely.
The service was outstanding. The staff were poilte, well mannered and well presented. they had no problem with any requsts form extra milk for coffee or honey for tea. I even asked for a little keepsake of my trip and they were very generous in giving me a little cup of my own choice.
I would very much recomend any one to go to amalfi.
Thank you so much to all the staff :)

Dined at Amalfi last night with five friends. Food , atmosphere and service were all excellent.
Lucky to find somewhere this good on the weekend before Christmas that wasn't overcrowded and extortionate.
Prices very reasonable for town. About £35 per head including wine
Treat yourself.

I decided to visit Amalfi on a Saturday night with 2 friends around 10.30pm as they were one of the few restaurants still open at this time. Possibly the worst decision I've ever made.
After being greeted by a waiter who assured us a table in 5 minutes, a very rude lady said that it would now be a 10minute wait despite 2 tables being empty. Following a brief argument between the waiter and the lady, we were reassured that it would be a 5minute wait. 10minutes later we were seated.
I thought to myself, "ah let's just forgive and forget, it's Saturday after all". Another 10 minutes passed and we still didn't have a menu to look at, I wasn't even sure that the waiters were aware that we were in the restaurant! We'd been here 30minutes now and we haven't even been offered a service as yet... in the end I decided to go and fetch some menus myself and we hastily decided on what we wanted to eat (mixed bread with olive oil/vinegar mix, Calzone, Sea bass with potatoes/veg, Salmon with potatoes/veg). Once again I had to go and alert the nearest waiter (this time a very old Italian man who had very limited English speaking and comprehension) who took my order with a frown. He then brought the olive/vinegar mix and I thought to myself "Yes! At least the food will come quickly."
15minutes passed. Still no bread. I'm a patient guy on most days but 45minutes for bread is unacceptable. So I alerted the man and he hastily went into the kitchen to fetch us a basket of, what looked like, luke warm tips and ends of some very old bread. With steam rising from my ears I was about to make a scene, but my better half and her friend thankfully calmed me down and said to just try and enjoy the evening. So munched away I did on the rock flavoured bread.
To no surprise, the main course took a further 20minutes to reach our table (by this time we had been at the restaurant over an hour) and lo and behold my Calzone wasn't too bad. Maybe I was absolutely starving at this point which enhanced the food's acceptability but I didn't think it was too bad at all. My companion's main's on the other hand were horrid. Salmon was cooked to the point it was dry and almost crusty. The sea bass (considering it costs close to £15 for this) was small, you were given half of a sea bass. The vegetables were overcooked and rubbery. They ended up eating half of my calzone instead of their own meals.
I tried to find the lady to let her know my thoughts but could not find her anywhere. By now it was gone midnight and she was probably in the back counting her bags of money thrown at her by tourists who knew no better. In the end I just told the old waiter to get the bill but I'm not paying the 12.5% service charge. Obviously he didn't understand me and the bill appeared within 30 seconds (quickest they'd been all night!), with the total service charge included, so I stood up frustrated and pointed at the sub-total and explained in baby English to him. Well what followed was a look of disgust and a lot of tutting (as if he had given me a Michelin star service or something), he disappeared for a further 10minutes (probably had to swim through the mountain of cash to get to the lady) and returned with a new bill minus the service charge.
I paid, got out as quickly as possible never to return again. You have been warned!
