my thoughts exactly - used to love the JC, but lately it has really gone downhill. The veg curry I just brought back looked absolutely revolting and tasted so-so. It's like they don't really care any more.

Considering the great-looking noodles that one of my co-workers brought back, I was really hoping that this place had gotten their act together. I had a pork katsu bento box, which was okay, but a bit dry (the salads were lovely though). The meal included miso soup, which i noticed was quite quickly packed into a bag. When I got back to the office I discovered it was ice cold. Yuck. The pork wasn't great quality and didn't taste fresly prepared. Never again.

I agree with the other comments. The portion sizes have reduced considerably and you don't get much for your money. Also avoid the chicken which is grisly and fatty. Not a great dining experience.

What a shame...have been going to 'The Cant' for a few years, used to be good nosh with very good portions for a decent price..How times have changed! Just had a veg curry that was half full, tastes not bad still but £3.95 for a half full small tub of rice and veg..it ain't worth it! Please bring back the place we used go to on a Friday after a pint for lunch!!!

Japanese Canteen may look like a good alternative to the rest of the stuff on the high street... but it's really gone downhill. Noodles come with fat, bone, skin and other assorted nastys with not much meat; service is surly at best. Best avoided.

Astoundingly hit or miss. Service seems friendly enough, but they often misplace orders. Sushi from the fridge is a great alternative to Pret down the road, however Salmon Teriakki noodles arrived as mostly soggy salmon skin with a few noodles at the bottom. Might be best to stick with the chilled items.
