We visited Bibendum on Sat 2nd July, Having started as a disastrus evening sitting in a traffic jam in Park Lane for over 2 Hours due to road works, our table was booked for 8.30pm I phoned & said we would be late, I was told they would hold the table for us without any problem. We arrived at 10.30 taken to our table in the window. The sevice was 1st class, table a little cramped as we were sitting right next to the people on either side, it was hard to have a conversation without waiting for the dinners on each side to stop there conversation.
The food was excelent far better than Petrus or other very expensive resturants in in London we have tried.
At the end of the evening the head waiter was removing the Michelin ashtray's as they would no longer be needed (smoking ban) and kindly gave us one as a souvenere. We would most definatly return again. GOOD FOOD! * GOOD WINE !*GOOD SERVICE!* GOOD PRICE (£145 inc wine) * . What more can you have (just a little more room between the tables please)

I took some business colleagues to Bibendum for dinner Tuesday. I booked online line earlier in the day and got an instant confirmation. I had noted in the booking form that 2 diners were vegetarian. When we got to the restaurant the staff presented menus, 2 of which featured vegetarian-only options. This was a surprising and welcomed touch; clearly the staff had read the booking comments and were well prepared. This may seem a small point but tell that to other vegetarians! The service remained efficient and non-obtrusive throughout the evening.
In terms of the food the menu is varied offering everything from sweetbreads, liver, and pork bellies to fish, game, and a nice selection of vegetarian items as mentioned. Portions were generous and the flavours rich but light; there were no heavy sauces to obscure the essential flavours of the meat/fish/veg.
Having dined at quite a few expensive but in my view, overrated London restaurants, I would heartily recommend Bibendum. The prices are reasonable, the quality of the food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional.

I took my partner last night and had a wonderful experience. For starters, we had the fois gras, which was overpriced, but very fresh and the grilled scallops which had the most flavoursome risotto I've ever had. For the main course, we shared a chateaubriand steak which was succulent and sizeable. For dessert, we shared a pretty special choc tart. The service was first class. A bit expensive - difficult one. Depends if you can get the meal elsewhere - I've not in London yet, but I'll be happy to put the research in!

Perfect for lunch or a family dinner. The food, staff, service and surroundings are all immaculate. The atmosphere is a little stuffy but wouldnt one expect that for the price. A must.

We go to Bibendum quite often as it's my favourite restaurant in London. The food is out of this world and the staff are always polite.I recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to eat amazing food.
Some people complain about the prices but you have to pay for quality because that is what you get at Bibendum.

I've been wanting to go to Bibendum since I am in London: last night I finally did, and was not disappointed.
Food is excellent, with a real French taste (we had repsectively foie gras / escargots as starter, rabbit / pigeon as main courses and raspberry millefeuilles / warm apricots for dessert). The service was professional and discreet. The decor is a bit formal, but nice.
Although the air conditioning was set too high and I had to wear my jacket between courses to warm up, I had a very nice evening.

For my main's i ordered Milk fed Leg of Lamb which was the most flavoured Lamb dish i had ever had, it was served with roast Garlic.... Fantastic Dinning Room, i would recomend it to EVERYONE i know and to those who read this Review...

I recently had a most enjoyable evening at Bibendum at a friend's birthday meal. The service was excellent - I found the staff to be some of the most welcoming and attentive of any restaurant I have been to in London, but without being in any way overbearing or fussy. When a friend of mine was having trouble deciding on a starter, the waiter was most helpful in giving her some advice, and clearly knew what he was talking about.
The drinks and food arrived relatively promptly after ordering, and the general atmosphere of the room was highly pleasant throughout the meal. It is obviously a very popular restaurant, and the tables were all full while we were there, but far enough apart to give us some privacy.
I had grilled scallops in a creamy, garlic risotto to start, which was sublime, and rib-eye steak in a red wine 'jus' for main. This was less good, but still very enjoyable and cooked to perfection. The wine list is certainly one of the best I have seen in London (or, indeed, anywhere).
The only negative comment I have to make is that I did think the prices were a little too high for what we got. Despite the food being excellent thoughout, I have had the same quality in other Central London restaurants for more reasonable prices.
That aside, I can highly recommend Bibendum for those that appreciate fantastic cooking in a very pleasant environment.

My party visited last week and the reason I write is to compliment the best dish I have had this year.
The starter of warm smoked eel with Jersey Royals and pancetta in a watercress veloute was a taste senstion and I felt I was judging Master Chef when eating it. Worth the visit alone.
The other courses were all to a high standard but this one stood out and I will be cheking if its one the menu when I go back
